Most fascinating! Thank you, Mike! :D

EV Li-ion battery and module: part exchange and commercial sales

To ensure customer satisfaction, all claims relative to EV Li-ion battery and module
shall be managed by Nissan Europe Warranty Group. This applies both for part
exchange in the warranty period and for commercial sales.

Nissan is contractually obliged to recycle the material in an environmental friendly
way (i.e umbrella contract signed with UMICOR). Moreover it is in Nissan’s interest to
recover the core to pursue R&D and ensure due recycling of the parts.

Therefore, in case of customer inquiry, for commercial sales, a core charge will be
added to the net price of the module or the battery. The core charge shall be charged
if the core item is not returned.

Only in case of theft (leading to absence of core) shall Nissan not charge for the core
return. In such a case, the Customer (via the Dealer) shall bring an official police
report reporting of the theft.

^^ ... Theft ? Theft of what ? The car ? In that case I doubt you need a replacement pack. The old battery ? Then WTH were you doing ... taking it out of the car yourself ? Oh, you mean the thief came to your house, jacked up the car, dropped the battery and ran off with it ???

Hmmm ....

But there is a lot more interesting information than that in those documents (and that document in particular).
Of course (serious now) ... but I just couldn't resist ... regarding "theft" replacement ... ;)

Interesting stuff... will have to spend some time reading thru it.

This stuff is perfect for feeding to http://archive.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, in case the contents get yanked. I've made an attempt to add the docs already.

I've requested that people do their "duty" at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9553.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. ;)

Indeed. I'm going to order a spare battery, and see if I can get them to "authorize the conversion".

Are we the public? I found them with a Google search. If they intend them to be company confidential (and I've no doubt that's true) they're going to have to do better than that! ;)

Cwerdna, I have copies in my Dropbox, just in case. I'll see about getting them uploaded where we have more control the links.

Wow! Great find Mike! :D :D
The battery lift table is a bit expensive at $2,330 Euro.
I wasn't even aware of a battery air leak test, and haven't taken time to fully review and understand it though. Interesting info.

I noticed an illustration of the charger being moved to the front of the car in 2013. Three pages later, there's another illustration of the high voltage parts, and the charger is back in the rear again. From this, I conclude that we can't really rely on this document to tell us what's changed in 2013 and what's not. I had been wondering about this very thing (the pressurized battery) since they revised the packaging on it and some speculated it might be open to the air.

As a former backyard mechanic, I can say that the "special tools" section of a service manual was always regarded as an idea book for the jigs we'd build for ourselves.

^^^
And, I believe in the UK model years are (were not?) not used much and are a bit goofy vs. the US. Maybe a Brit can chime in on that?

There not reliable because the focus is always on the year a car first registered. And new vehicle registrations go March-August and then September-February. So a car built as a 2011 could easily be registered during the same time period as one built in early 2012, and you'll see advertisements where cars are listed as "2011 on a 62 plate", which gives it more snob appeal because it "looks" a year newer.
