Enkei RPF1 18x7.5 +48 offset

I just picked up a set of Enkei RPF1 18x7.5 +48 offset. Unfortunately I got the incorrect tire size, but I'm going to attempt to correct that tomorrow. The tires ordered were 215/40-R18, which is a drop in diameter from 25.5" down to 24.8" (-2.7%). It looks like a 215/45-R18 will get it very close with the diameter and the speedometer discrepancy. The wheel well definitely looks too big, but that was also the case with the stock wheels as well. I have a couple of questions.

What spacer size should I go with to make the wheels more flush? Based off some forum posts I can easily go 1" in the rear and 0.5" up front, but the pictures in that thread were no longer working.

What suspension options are available to lower the car a bit? I'm not looking for anything that will make the ride overly aggressive, unless there are no other options. I'm fine with coilovers or a nice strut/spring replacement. The gap in the wheel housing is depressing.

Is there a way to correct the speedometer if I go with a higher profile tire? Reference: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8026 Not sure how effective this option will be.

Found 15mm and 28mm spacers for the front and rear respectively. Swapping out the tires today for 215/45-R18s which is 0.48mm larger than the stock 17s. I researched 215/55-R18s and it looked like it would be cutting it too close. There were very few options in 215/45-R18s, and least with the brands TireRack would let me exchange.

The weight of my stock wheels with worn tires and no TPS was 44.8 lbs (bathroom scale). The Enkei RPF1s with the 215/40-R18 was 37.4 lbs (with the TPS) on the same scale.

Tire size changed to 215/45-R18 and the mounted weight is 38.4 lbs with the TPS. I may go with a 215/50-R18 next time, but there was nothing available in that size in the brand of tire I was allowed to swap at no charge. 15mm and 25mm spacers were installed. The look is much better but it wouldn't hurt to lower it a bit. The ride is still nice and handling was definitely improved. My battery is so shot that I don't really have any feedback on range yet.
