Just bought a used 2013 Leaf, and the right brake light does not work. Called Nissan dealership and they quoted $489 to replace the LED panel! The car has less than 36K miles, is this something covered by a warranty?

Check the in-service date for the car. It's probably passed 36 months, meaning no warranty, but it's worth also checking the pressure or pedal switch that operates the brake lights.

Check fuses--there is a hidden fusebox on the bottom side of the power distribution module which is located under the hood at the left front fender. There are separate fuses for lights on right side and left side of car for each light circuit.

Edited to add: The LED brake light would be covered by the 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty.
