Anyone have a good solution (recommendation) for a smart phone holder that doesn't require any type of adhesive?

And another as well ... prefer NOT to have to stick anything on the dash but then again it wouldn't be at eye level, we have multiple cars as well as when I rent a car I pack this and use it; as it also can keep the phone charged up as well as someone else's, comes in handy

I love RAM mounts, they are expensive but they work and never break.

I figured out that a yoke clamp (designed for an airplane yoke) attaches quite nicely to the air vent and back of the center console (the part that sticks up above the dash). It's easily removable and quite sturdy (see photo). Over time one of the vent fins can bend slightly but it's minor and seems to recover eventually.

Here is the clamp: http://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-121-238U

More impressive in the picture is your range estimate and energy economy. How do you achieve that?

The range estimate and energy economy are in kilometers, not miles. He lives in Canada. 100 kilometers equals 62 miles.

proclipusa.com makes fantastic mounts that do not modify or deface your car. They are rock steady and durable. They also can be removed without any damage to the vehicle. I've owned several of them and have been delighted with them all. Their web site is very helpful in explaining everything.

The one I use with my Leaf is the 854706 Nissan Leaf 2011-2017 - ProClip Center Mount

I also purchased a 215183 - Left/Right Extension Plate to move the phone to the left a bit, for better viewing and a shorter reach.

The third part is the phone holder. 514667 Apple iPhone 6 Plus With Case - Adjustable Holder for Small to Medium Cases with Cable Attachment (I have the Apple silicone case on my iPhone.)

This mount uses a .5 meter lightning cord that is the perfect length to reach the 12v port under the center control panel.

It's pricey, but it's perfect. The mount fits into the left/center vent, but does not modify it in any way. You will have about 1/3 of the vent exposed for air to come out.

I hope this helps.

The holders from ProClip ( https://www.proclipusa.com/ ) are really good. Some of them don't involve adhesive. All of them are primarily secured with clips.
