Hello everyone - I've read through the threads here about replacing the stock radio with a better stereo system, but what I want is (I hope) much simpler: I bought a used 2014 LEAF S this past weekend, and I would like to upgrade the radio/computer to be able to use it with the NissanConnect software. It'd be great to also get nav, BlueTooth audio, etc. but the scenario I care about is remote control of climate, charging, etc.

When I spoke to the NissanConnect people they were very vague with me, only saying that I needed a hardware upgrade and the dealership could help me. Hoping the "hardware upgrade" I need isn't a different LEAF. :) Before I go out to the dealer, I wanted to check in with the owner community. Has anyone gone from the stock 2014 (or earlier) S computer to one that works w/NissanConnect?

I suspect if you were to buy the parts new, the parts would be prohibitively expensive.

You're likely better off ditching your S and getting an SV or SL instead.

I found http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=3422 and from some Googling for that part and later a bit more digging I found stuff like this:

http://www.nissanpartswebstore.com/a/Nissan__Leaf/_56655_5974505/NAVIGATION-SYSTEM-COMPONENTS-ELECTRICAL/3722135.html

I noticed at http://www.nissanpartswebstore.com/p/Nissan__Leaf/DISPLAY-SYSTEM-Display-unit-GPS-Navigation-System--wnavigation-wo-Premium-pkg/65130560/259153NF0C.html (for example), you'll need some other parts like the buttons on the left and right, at minimum. Who knows if you'll also need the HVAC panel (e.g. part 21 at http://www.nissanpartswebstore.com/a/Nissan__Leaf/_56655_5947786/CLUSTER--SWITCHES-INSTRUMENT-PANEL/3722320.html), other trim pieces and new wiring harnesses?

Have fun. :D

If I were you, I'd find a local junkyard that has one or more Leafs, find the parts you need, and give them an offer for the parts.

Thanks for the responses, cwerdna and garsh! Hunch confirmed, it seems. (The junkyard idea is a good one, I'll keep an eye on that.)

Used SVs that are also Nissan Certified are not available used in our area right now. Humorously, a coworker bought the only certified 2014 SV within 400 miles on the same day I bought my S (neither of us had told the other we were looking at a LEAF!). I'll have to ruminate on whether it's worth the trade-up if one becomes available.
