Improvement in CarWings coverage?

I know that the 2G connection that CarWings uses is going away for good at the end of 2016. When I bought my 2012 SL in April, I could never get CarWings to update when parked at home or at work, and I thought maybe that was a sign of 2G coverage starting to be mothballed in my area. Recently, though, I have been able to get my LEAF's status to update immediately almost every time at both home and work. Has anyone else experienced any unexpected improvements in coverage?

The result could be from an AT&T update/upgrade to the cell towers in your area. Carwings communication problems can also be an indicator of issues with the 12v battery in the car.
