Newbie here just wanted to ask a question about the park button. I bought the leaf from the original owners and they said the park button has never worked. The car was in primo shape and i got it for a killer price. To put it park i just turn off the leaf. Anyone else have the same problem?

I've not heard of this problem but yeah, shutting it off will put it in park.

What year? 2011? What was the original in-service date? If it's a few years newer, it might be covered under the 5 year/60K EV system/powertrain warranty. If nothing else, file a safety complaint w/NHTSA at http://www.safercar.gov/, assuming you're in the US. That's most clearly a safety defect.

Can't understand why the original owners wouldn't get it fixed under warranty.

Yes an early 2011. Not sure why they did not follow up. Runs sweet. Battery is under warranty until March 2019. I have 10 bars and battery is in good health.
HV battery defects warranty is for 8 years/100K. Capacity warranty (that the car didn't originally ship with) has expired: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=13192.

Truthfully I rarely use my park button, I just go from ON to OFF, same as on our Leaf. I can see where it might be handy though but I rarely run into those cases. Yours almost sounds like a mechanical problem with your park button.....although fixing it may be harder than one might think. If it's a bad button I suppose if you didn't want to spend the big bucks they might want for an OEM one, you could wire up a separate switch to do the same thing....
