Every time I plug into to a L2 EVSE, it goes into fault

I'm a new owner, so I don't know if this is common. I have charged several times on the L1 cable that came with the car and I had no issues. I just installed an L2 Seimens at home, and I am having the same issue with the L2 at work. When I plug in, the charging lights don't come on. The one at work shows a fault, and I need to reset it once or twice to get it to charge. Last night was the first time I used the Siemens (or thought I used it). This morning, I was still at 25% battery. I my charger had a fault. Is this common? How often does this happen to you? I'm going to keep an eye on it for a few more charges (at home) and hope this doesn't continue.

Luckily I'm 4 miles from work, so it was no problem to commute on a low charge.

I now know I need to be more vigilant when it comes to charging and make sure it's working before I walk away.

I'm eagerly awaiting the call to schedule my post-purchase service so I can get the 3G upgrade and better monitor charge status.

Similar story on this thread, that guy got a free replacement as Siemens admitted it was due to a known issue.

I would phone Siemens and see what they say.

But it happens to him(or her) at work :)
I'd suspect something wrong with the actual car charger and not any EVSE.

True, but figured it was worth mentioning. Two is a pretty small sample size :)

If it was me, I would visit half a dozen L2 charging stations, just to be sure it was the car as it will likely be an expensive repair.

True, not a bad idea :)

or take to your local Nissan dealer and see how it behaves with their EVSE.

I will. I'm going to monitor this for a little while and see if it's an actual issue. Today when I plugged in at work it took 2 tries to fix the fault, and I asked another Leaf owner. I guess it's not uncommon for this EVSE to fault.

I will charge at home for the next 5 times and keep track of any mishaps.

If it is my car, I'll have it fixed under warranty... Its CPO so I should be good.

Thanks for the replies!

Thanks for that. Mine is the Gen 2 gray one, so hopefully it's OK. I'm going to check the wiring outlet and breaker for loose connections before I take it to the manufacturer.

Have a look at this video too, and this thread that the same guy who made the video was active on:

His video has one malfunctioning EVSE and the replacement that Siemens shipped to him - both are grey in color and look identical.
