Hello, I am the second owner of a 2012 Leaf, I purchased the car back in July and since then I have noticed a noise each time I accelarate the car after a complete stop. I searched the forum and it seems that the noise might be the ABS self test, but my concern is that the ABS self test is done only once a day or once per trip, my car is making it every time all the time?? My warranty is about to expire on november I just want to be sure what the noise is. I took the car to the dealership and the tech said is normal operation...

Sounds like its just the cars door locks automatically locking once you exceed 15 MPH; this would be normal behavior, when you're going that slow, look at the lock mechanism near the chrome door handle and you should see it change to 'lock' once you get over 15 MPH --- the other 2 clips were too short to hear anything --- I believe you can shut off auto-door locking but wouldn't recommend it --- sorry but that's all I hear

Thank you for the reply, it is more like a metallic sound and it is coming from underneath the car. I will try and edit the video to boost the volume. thanks

I think I've heard what you are talking about on my 2012 SL too. It's like something is scraping like a brake disc cover or under car cover touching a movinf part.. but once you go over 40, it can not be heard or maybe it is drowned out?

I suspected it was wind noise. The Wife can not hear it but if I mutter that she is deaf, she hears that and I get in trouble.

I get a similar sound as in videos 1 and 3 when depressing the accelerator from a stop, sounds like a relay clicking. Sound in video 2 seems like just door locks. Can you hear it better with windows down, may be when next to a wall? If so there was a TSB regarding front axle something being lose, basically dealer had to re-torque and apply lube, I had it done on my 2011.

So finally I was able to get back on topic, and record a brief video with my phone. I forgot to mention that this noise is only present when in Eco mode. Thank you for your comments

Note: video was recorded holding my phone outside the car's window as I drove away

I can't tell anything from 3 seconds of noisy audio, wind noise and the microphone being jostled. Remember, we're not familiar with your noise and we need a chance to get our bearings with before/during/after sounds so we can even know what you're referring to.

What part of that soup is the problem noise? Could you at least take a longer sample, try to minimize extraneous noise, and also point out when your noise happens? I.e., "At second 16 on this 30-second video.
