Since upgrading my iphone 5 to ios 8, I can't use the Bluetooth in my leaf. It looks like it's connecting but I can't hear the call nor can they hear me. Has anyone had this issue too? Any suggestions to fix this problem?

I plan to hold off myself going to iOS 8 but can say that during the last firmware update, I removed my 5s iPhone off, completed the upgrade and then added it back in and it was fine --- I'd try this approach and let us know if it works -- you may need to add the phone book, etc. back in but it may help to remove and add so it recognizes the new iOS. My WP8 phone was so much easier (as well as would read me my text messages) but iOS updates have been reported as creating problems with other makes and models of cars --- you can always check the Apple message boards as well but this could be the quickest fix.

Just got my iPhone 6 with IOS 8 and deleted my old phone. Connected the new one and now when I dial out using the car it rings 3 times and says call failed even though the phone is still connected to the person I called. Incoming calls does not have a answer button to select. Only hang up, mute, use keypad, and use hand set?

Anyone else?

Ok just deleted my phone profile in the car, reloaded the phone book and called my wifes phone. Same thing, here is what it looks like when she calls in...

No answer option, and when I select My Car for the audio device on the phone nothing happens.
IDK...

Ok it is fixed, everything now works.
This is what I did....

Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings.

After the reset I had to reenter my wifi password, but the phone auto paired to the car and all calling functionality was restored.

Yeah I am hands free again!

Dan -- you don't list what year LEAF you have so perhaps this will vary but by any chance did this change the ability to have the car 'read' back your incoming text messages with the upgrade (doesn't work on older LEAF's now)?

Got a 2011 model, let me run down stairs and check :)

Just got back, when the radio is on anything but Bluetooth audio it does not work. On Bluetooth audio after pausing the song that started playing. I tapped on a msg and selected speech and it worked with out a problem. Just remember to turn speak on under the phones general> accessibility> speech> speak selection option.

Hope this helps.

If you're still prompted for and seem able to install iOS 8.0.1, don't. It was a botched release and was pulled within a few hours of release.

2012 Leaf and iPhone 6 with iOS 8. Bluetooth not working properly. I deleted pairings from both the car and the phone. It appears to connect but will not make or receive calls. When I use siri she speaks through the head unit.

Edit: looks widespread iPhone 6 has car Bluetooth problems

I've got the luxury of pre-testing the new release for these as we use iPhones for work before we advise our users to upgrade, have just updated a 5s with iOS 8 and plan to test it with my cars that have BT (my '12 LEAF and a '13 VW) and see what happens; as most cars can have multiple phones that you can connect this should be easy to try out and see what gives … on our Verizon phones it does show that iOS 8 is available but does not show the little 1 in a red circle reminder in settings yet so perhaps VZW isn't recommending it either … yet

I have a 2013 Leaf S. I still can't get my phone to work properly and it's a 5 with 8.02. I even had the dealer try and it worked for one phone call but no longer works. I've cleared the phone from the Leaf and I've cleared all the network settings out of my phone and I still can't it to work. It looks like it's connecting and then drops the call. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

The last resort would be to totally reset the phone -- even though we've advised our employees there is really no need to apply this upgrade on a 5s phone (new 6 users have no choice but we haven't added anyone recently, may simply buy new employees 5s phones still) people still do it and about 4 in 10 here that have can no longer get their company email (long story on that but suffice to say, it doesn't 'like' the upgrade). I've heard its really difficult to 'go back' to iOS 7 without unlocking the phone, etc. but doing a total reset might help --- that's a pain as well if you have lots of photos and apps to reload but as it does not seem anything specific enough for BT in the car fix is coming anytime soon from Apple that may be the only other thing to try. As a side note; the 4 that had issues were all over the board, one we just needed to force a power cycle restart (no change in settings), one it 'stuck' at the iCloud setting; once past that it was OK; one just needed to re-enter the user name and password several times and it finally worked and the last one was the worse as we needed to totally reset the phone --- needless to say my own 5s company iPhone will stay on the iOS 7 release for now.

I upgraded to IOS 8.1 and tried and my bluetooth works perfectly now. I didn't realize it but my garage door alerts stopped with the upgrade to IOS 8 and they just started again as well.
