My 2019 SL has a rather unresponsive HVAC. In the cold, it does not warm very well (pity the back seat passengers). When outside temperature warms to 70+ degrees, the cabin becomes uncomfortably hot in the vehicle, despite having HVAC always in Auto mode set to 69 degrees. That said, I keep it in Eco mode almost all of the time. I recall that my ex-wife’s 2015 Highlander Hybrid would substantially degrade HVAC performance when it was put into Eco mode. I could not find in the LEAF manual where it says Eco mode degrades the HVAC.

Do you know if Eco mode dials back the HVAC capabilities?

Not sure about 2019 but gen1 eco mode puts a cap of about 3kw on the hvac system. In normal mode it’s allowed to go over 5kw. That said 3kw seems to suffice for all but the warmest days for AC. If it has been sitting in the sun on a 100+F day then I’ll take it out of eco, at least until the AC catches up.
