Yes. I am out of power. http://yfrog.com/gz3b7nwj. Went from 17 to --- to turtle to dead in about 5 miles. 2.3 miles from dealer. 4.2 miles from home. Part of me is amused that I may go down in history as the first dumbass to drive the car into submission. But I am slightly shaky and upset as I thought there should have been no problem getting home.

Ah well my experience was less than a mile in turtle.

It actually won't let me turn it off. Nor will it let me respectably pull 1 ft into the space. It went dead in the middle of an intersection. I was lucky to be on an incline and coast 100 ft - very slowly in rushour traffic - into the parking lot.

Part of me is laughing. Part is a little cranky that my 17 miles went to dead so quickly. A mile ago I was on the highway so I am counting myself very fortunate to be where I am instead of there.

I'm sorry to hear that. How fast were you going in the freeway when you only had 17 miles left? Was the heater turned on at the time and what was the temp outside?

Plug it in?? Seriously you are saying that? Sigh. I am not near a plug. I am lucky to be in a lot let alone near any power. Yes roadside assistance. Have been waiting over an hour.

I am in San Diego. I had 0 systems on. No air running at all, and power monitor was up. I was 6 miles from home with 17 left on the estimated miles going about 60, as I had been doing for the previous 20 minutes so there should not have been a lot of variability in mileage estimate. Went 17, 16, ---. I pulled off highway thinking to use back streets, went turtle and then less than .75 mile was dead.

Interestingly, the car won't shut off even following all guidance in turning it off. Dealer says if on flatbed, is ok to have it on. Bizarre.

I'm a bit surprised it drained 3x as fast as estimated. Any ideas on why? Radio blasting, heater full blast, high beams on.. :)

Doesn't sound right. I would have thought you'd make it home. Can you put the car into neutral and push it into the space?

I think something went wrong. Ask them to get it checked.

Are you doing 80% or 100% charging ?

I agree. I would insist to Nissan to get the LEAF "experts" on-hand look at your car. Sorry to hear. PLEASE keep us posted. 17 miles to dead like that is chilling if it is normal behavior...even if it is normal, we all like/need to know. Appreciate your taking time to report Kelangst.

Do you remember how many "bars" you had before it went --- ?

I had no systems on. No radio, no lights, no fan, no heater. So again: I had nothing on other than the car itself. Temperature is 60 today so nothing needed to be comfortable.

I had menu>energy info up as I usually do when driving and climate control showed 0 kw. Other systems at about .5 or so. I have taken the car to --- a few times so I generally have a sense of what it can do, so this was a surprise.

I usually charge to 80%. I was driing 88 miles today so I charged to 100%. I am stunned when I see that most of you get 100+, cause my experience is around 90 miles max on a 100%, but that is probably because I often will go 60-63 on highway.

My point in posting was to say that hey it is possible to drain it even if youthink you have it under control.

17, 16, --- would be normal, but I'd expect at least 5 miles at 60 mph, or 10-15 at 35 mph left, just as you did. Something's not right! Turtle for only .75 mile, well maybe. But it doesn't seem like you got anywhere near enough range on your last two bars. Sorry you had to be the person to experience it, but I'm glad you warned us! I've gotten to --- a couple of times, but not turtle yet.

One point, though. I don't think anyone is getting 100+ miles at 60 mph. More like 75 miles. 100 miles at 40 mph, more likely.

90 is very good. I'd have thought 80 is max if you do mostly highway.

Randy and Malcome both made it ~111 miles with 90 minutes of charging in the middle (picked up about 18-19 miles range) and just over 15 miles range left at appx 55 mph. Or just over 100 miles on a full charge at 55 mph.

I'd expect about 95 miles from full to empty at 60 mph based on my calculations.

Our drive was about 112 miles to home from the dealer, at the halfway point we added 90 minutes of L2 charge - about 18 miles, and ended up with 19 miles left when I got in the driveway. No low battery warning and two bars left above the two red bars.

But for that one time event, we maximized energy by driving slow (50-55) and no AC/Heat. Not real practical everyday, we just wanted to make it home that night.

The key was keeping the speed low and not using energy to overcome the wind on the freeway.

I did 80 miles out of a 80% charge yesterday. Got into "---" in the last 9 miles of range, made it home before turtle mode with carwings showing 4 miles left. Mostly highway, some at 60-65, but most at 55mph, and in ECO mode all the time. Not sure how I would get 110 miles of range out of my car, (even if the car was showing me 107 of range in regular mode this morning and 121 in ECO).
That said, it's really strange that you went from 17 to stop in such a short distance ... especially if you got out of the highway.
You're saying that the car was refusing to turn off? My guess is that you've had a bug, that the battery still has 17 miles left, and that if you could reboot, you'd be fine ...

Please keep us updated !

I think I concur....something not quite right. You should be able to drop from double digits to single digits without the car packing in, especially if you are off the freeway and driving at city street speeds by then.

If you'd pulled the emergency disconnect from the pack, I wonder if that might have forced the car into a reboot?
