I read a FB post today (and I'm hoping they were trolling) claiming that the 2018 LEAF's battery warranty was ONLY 3 YEARS for degradation, not the full 8 years/100,000 miles (for defects, etc.).

Has anyone actually READ this fine print, or is there a place to find the actual warranty online?

Also, would this apply to 2016+, as that's when the US warranty was changed from 5 years/60,000 mi. to the current 8yr/100k mark?

NOTE: It was common knowledge with lots of actual customer anecdotes that the older (<2015) degradation warranty ran the full 5/60. As soon as an owner hit 4 bars down in their EVs, the traction battery was generally replaced, as opposed to "repaired."

TiA.

You can download the actual warranty booklets at https://owners.nissanusa.com/nowners/navigation/manualsGuide

The guy who posted is WRONG.

I have numerous issues and pet peeves with some of the Leaf FB groups. Sigh... It's mostly covered by what I wrote at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=521264#p521264.

Keep in mind that 24 kWh S trim (not the S 30 that came later: https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1106593_nissan-leaf-s-quietly-gets-30-kwh-battery-upgrade-higher-price) still has the 5 year/60K capacity warranty. Only 30 and 40 kWh batteries got the 8 year/100K capacity warranty.

Great reply, and your comment about the 2016 S models with the older 24 kWh batteries ('16 S LEAFS were 24 until about 3/4 of the way through model production, then switched to 30 kWh) was a great heads up that I was aware of but others might not have known. So good on you for that info, too!

This is non-sense with regard to the 2016... for which the previous warranty was extended from the prior term.
Ignore alien orders.. and read the actual warranty itself.
