FURTHER INFORMATION. I obtained a Nissan tow eye 51112-CA00A which is 22mm x 2.5 pitch. This tow eye will thread in about three turns before binding up. I measured the thread pitch on the car using a stir stick with epoxy, and the pitch is 3.0. So far I have not been able to find a tow eye with that pitch.
