So when I bought my leaf I had this grand plan that even though it will only charge up to 80 miles and I need to go 65 miles round trip it was no problem because i could trickle charge out of my garage and then there were stage 2 chargers at the university where I work

What I didnt plan for was my trickle charger going bad

I go to the dealership and the parts department is trying to sell me a charging set up for 850 dollars. All I need for the moment (and my money is low) is something I can charge overnight out of my garage so i have enough juice to be able to get back and forth to work.)

Right now I am charging at the dealership (sitting here as I speak) on their stage 2 chargers so I can make it to work.

Anybody know where I can buy a inexpensive trickle charger that I can plug into a wall outlet?

Thank you for your help in advance.

You're looking for an EVSE, NOT a charger. For level 1 and 2 AC charging, the charger is on-board the car. See http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=332668#p332668 and http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=262630#p262630.

The stock L1 EVSE is covered by the 5 year/60K EV system warranty:
ELECTRIC VEHICLE (EV) SYSTEM COVERAGE
The EV System coverage period is 60 months or
60,000 miles, whichever come first.
This warranty covers any repairs needed to cor-
rect defects in materials or workmanship.
EV System Coverage applies to components listed below under the heading EV System, sup- plied by Nissan, subject to the exclusions listed
under the heading WHAT IS NOT COVERED .
EV SYSTEM
Motor, Inverter unit, VCM, Reduction gear, DC/DC converter, Onboard charger, Onboard charger connector, and Trickle charge cable
Are you past that?

You could otherwise try eBay or https://store.clippercreek.com/level1/pcs-15-portable-ev-charging-station.

Hopefully you can get it replaced under warranty...

Otherwise, do you have a dryer outlet, located close enough to the car, that you could plug a 240V EVSE into?

If so, you can buy a Zencar 32A portable EVSE, direct shipped to you, for about $350 US.

If that's too much, this guy apparently purchased the OEM EVSE (Panasonic) for $80:

There's one for sale right here (not mine): http://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=24075

In addition to the Clipper Creek that cwerdna linked to, also look into a dual-voltage EVSE. That way if you ever decide to get 240 volt power (or move somewhere that already has it) you won't have to buy a second EVSE.

Duosida dual-voltage unit https://www.amazon.com/Duosida-Charger-Standard-120Volt-adapter/dp/B0728745JZ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497651769&sr=8-1&keywords=120+volt+EVSE

AeroVironment (the company that manufactures the "official" Nissan L2 EVSE for the US) TurboCord dual-voltage: https://www.amazon.com/AeroVironment-TurboCord-Plug-Charger-UL-Listed/dp/B00J8O1XQE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1497651769&sr=8-4&keywords=120+volt+EVSE

This is an official OEM EVSE that has been upgraded by EVSE Upgrade, run by a member here. He has a special going on excess stock pre-upgraded units for under $500: http://evseupgrade.com/?main_page=product_info&cPath=8&products_id=25

In case the OP is still looking, this just popped up:
