First time in 6.5 years this has happened to me - rapid, repeating chirp from the dashboard and and a display message that was something like "release hand brake lever". I guess I must have held it in place for too long or something?

I just got that for the first time too. Only mine is a foot pedal. Guess I didn't release it all the way somehow 'cause I was rolling and fully depressed the car won't move.
