Just bought a 12 Leaf, can I use a Voltec charger?

I bought the car at an auction today. After I checked it out I noticed it didn't have a charger so I brought up the issue in the office. They contacted the seller who said they didn't have it. The auction had a spare Voltec charger which they let me have instead. Can it be used with the Leaf? This is my first real EV so I'm a newbie but have bought and sold two dozen first generation Honda Insights so not totally blind.

Don't think I would go as far as saying it's the same EVSE. You might find the gauge of the cord is thinner than a Leaf EVSE.

The J1772 connector is the same bar some differences in weight and feel of the latch.

Should serve adequately for a Level 1 charge at home though.

It's not a charger. It's an EVSE.

For L1 and L2 AC charging, the charger is on-board the car. Please see http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14728&p=332668#p332668 and the links there.

The technically correct term is EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). Inside the EVSE is a large electric switch (most often a mechanical relay) and a low-power electronic circuit to turn on the relay at the right time based on when it is connected to a valid car/charger/battery system.
