Are there any good rule of thumb ways of knowing which dealers really "care" about Leafs, both for Sales and for Service? Such as:

1) Having Chademo vs only having L2? Can we assume that DCFC means that the dealer is "invested" in Leafs and that a dealer with only L2s is just going through the motions?

2) Can we "look up" how many Leaf-certified service techs they have? or how experienced?

3) What sort of prizes are awarded for being "good at Leaf"

4) Is there a who-sells-the-most-Leafs leaderboard somewhere?

First thing that comes to mind is ask some people at the dealer about some technical aspects or actual specs of the car. You'll know right away whether they know what they're talking about or not.

It's clear to me from the people I've asked. Even my local "Leaf Specialist" doesn't know that much compared to one of us doing research before buying/leasing the car. I would ask questions I knew the answers to but just wanted to confirm. The "Specialist" barely knew or only knew about the specifics of the original Leaf that is different than the MY15.

Rent a LEAF and go to the various dealers looking for a quick-charge as a "not bought here" driver. Should tell you what you want to know.

I'll second the ask and you'll quickly know scenario. I found dealer knowledge of the Leaf varied widely across my area. Just asking about charging do's and dont's or what amperage to have for a dedicated 240 circuit at your house should be enough to know. In addition, you might ask if anyone at the dealer owns one. My dealer has four employees with Leafs. A quick look at the comments in plugshare for a dealer's chargers might give you an idea of how much they value Leaf owners as well. If the chargers are often don, the spots are frequently ICE'd, or someone commented on being hassled when charging for not buying at that dealer, that is no bueno.
