Have you guys factored in the increased insurance premium when buying or leasing a Nissan Leaf? I was shocked to learn that the new leaf has a higher insurance than ICE. What has been your experience with insurance so far?
Hicgaydos said:Simultaneously with the leasing of our first LEAF I also shopped around for new home and auto insurance, as my old carrier's rates had suddenly skyrocketed. I found a lot of variance in rates among the higher quality insurance companies, but this was especially true for the LEAF. The difference between the lowest LEAF rate and the highest was a factor of 3. Some companies had particularly low LEAF rates.
So, shop around. There's a good chance you'll find a real bargain.

Do you mind sharing with us the results of your research on insurance companies? I have state farm and I understand that Farmer's Insurance gives a discount of 5 % for electric vehicles. I am not sure of discounts from others.
Thanks
