Recurring Subscription to MNL Automatically Renewed?

Sun Nov 24, 2013 9:35 am

I got an email today that my subscription to MNL is expiring and it is time to renew. When I go to renew for a year, I see that "purchasing this subscription is recurring, this means after the period is complete it will automatically be renewed". Does this mean that I am giving carte blanche to take money from my paypal account every year without my intervention, or does it simply mean I will be notified once a year?

Ii may be something that Paypal is doing on their own as I have seen the same thing on a couple of other renewals of late... But in any event, you can go in to PayPal and cancel the automatic renewal(s) if you like...

that "convenience" stops me cold every time.

(knowing how frugal, skeptical and perceptive most of MNLers are, i would suggest offering the recurring sign ups as an opt-in.
i am not doing it otherwise, and would assume many others feel the same.
as to opting out via paypal, i dont want to play around with that. i am glad to pay the $30 at my option, but i dont want to start a recurring payment that runs on autopilot.
i did go through the payment thingee, and there was no way -- before you click process payment -- to cancel the recurring nature.
accordingly, i walked away on it.
sorry.)

You have to do it after the fact... There is a function on Paypal to cancel reoccurring payments...

Noticed that as well, and cancelled the "auto pay" option after paying.

The reason the payments are recurring is because that's the way the software is set up, to handle recurring memberships.

As others have mentioned, you can cancel the recurring part of the payment once the payment has been made.

I will do some digging and see if there is a way to make the recurring optional before the payment is made.
