where do you get a kw meter for my leaf 240v charging ? The ones on ebay are made in china and do not look very reliable ?
So where do all you Leaf drivers get your watt meters?

You could inline a refurbed utility meter.

My separate meter was a requirement of my municipality (which also supplies my electricity and water) in order to get a permit to install my EVSE, and was provided to me free of charge. However that did increase installation costs, plus I had to get permission from the HOA to install it on the outside of my townhouse.

Your utility might offer a discounted rate for the electricity used by your EV if you install a separate meter, so definitely check with them. One example is PG&E with their EV-B rate, and they charge $100 for the meter. This could save you money if you plan on doing a lot of charging during peak hours.

Several of the forum members have used the energy detective. Looks like a good unit to me.
