As reported on NBC news:

"The Environmental Protection Agency says the water along the Dan River is safe to drink when filtered but residents should avoid direct contact like swimming in it"

I can't be too critical though, without being reminded that this is my fault for driving coal powered cars.
 
As an employee ( nuke ) I can say we are sickened by this. What I will also say is that Duke has free charging stations all around Charlotte NC, (not public) stations at a number of their power and education facilities. I wrote a note to my plant manager last night about putting in three or four stations in at our plant and he and my group manager said that it was an idea with good marit and they would be taking it under discussion.
While this is off topic, the thing is if you don't ask, the answer is 100% no.
