I'm trying to think of ways we can address this 400ppm CO2 problem.

Since it's obvious we are not going to reduce our use of carbon, (just look at the Sunday newspaper's auto section,,,you'd think it was an advertisement for a male stimulant…bigger is better…unbelievable. The 2011 Leaf was the car of the year. Now it is in the slowly decaying heap of garbage. What drives these people? They seem desperate to me.)

So I have this idea:

What if we took off one molecule of oxygen from the CO2. That would change the relationship wouldn't it? To CO1. Maybe it's as simple as that. We would then be putting into the air CO1.

Your thoughts.

You do realize that Carbon Monoxide is terribly toxic and poisoness, right?

So you are saying that won't work? Then I'll dismantle the test apparatus I set up in the basement.

How about we add an oxygen molecule to the CO2, making it CO3. That should make some kind of a shift.

Actually, this adding a molecule should be easier than taking one away, given the fact that we are always making things "New and Improved."

Any thoughts?

Remove one Oxygen, add Tungsten and Sulfur.

Then we'd be making COWS.

We could feed the world, AND avoid production of Methane, which is even worse than CO2 as a greenhouse gas!!

Water has an affinity for absorbing CO2. Maybe some on this forum will comment on the ocean experiments to intensify CO2 - I have read briefly about them and water absorption of CO2 is acidifying the oceans so that critters with calcium co-dependence are under stress.

Since we have not been effective at reducing CO2, encouraging or assisting the depletion of CO2 is a valid process. Artificial Trees which pull 1000x more carbon than a biological tree - now that's a use for that excess renewable energy!

Harvest all the beetle killed trees and get them into buildings before they decompose and return their carbon to the environment.

Great idea, only isn't it methane that comes out the back end of a cow?

I'd like for us to find a more environmentally way of reducing this CO2 problem.

Methane comes out of the front of the cow as well - it's generated by the bacteria in the digestive system that converts cellulose to sugars.

The number one, two, and three thing we can do to reduce the CO2 problem is to transition to carbon-free energy for buildings and vehicles, and to reduce our use of beef.

The best sequestration on the planet is all the green, growing things - and the most they can draw down each year is about 5ppm. Human sequestration efforts pale by comparison to trees and grass.

Not paying third world countries to build coal plants should help. Authors not making stupid statements could help even more.
We have seen enough science fiction movies to know how fragile our ecosystem is.

Or you could go the other way and get one of these bad bays to *intentionally* emit more CO2.

If you are interested in learning more about how to capture carbon - look up Carbon Sequestration - or Carbon Sink if you want to investigate this further.
