As if all the ads and pop-ups (including new browser windows) weren't bad enough, Photobucket has now killed 3rd-party hosting unless you upgrade your membership to an exorbitant $400/yr. I guess Photobucket is now owned by the same kind of a*holes that would bump up the cost of an aids medication to $800 a dose. Screw 'em.

Of course, if you do pony up the $400 I guess all the ads would go away? Maybe.

Edit: Ha! Owned by the Disney Empire. Enough said.

It's ruined a lot of sites, one in particular I use quite often is a "How to" auto electrical site with step by step pictures on how to do the job, Now ruined.

It's pretty depressing how many sites I come across that are now utterly broken. I get that vendors can change their terms at will and charge what they want, but for a company like WDC (which has global revenues of more than $50 BILLION annually I might add) then surely there must be space for leaving things as they are for existing users and charging new ones? Or at least for charging existing users a more equitable fee than $400? That is just the epitome of corporate greed, and on a site that hasn't been managed particularly well for the last 4 years (and that's being nice about it!).

I too am pretty annoyed as many of TonyWilliams useful posts are broken (e.g. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?t=4295 and http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5012#p5012) by this crap besides numerous other posts.

WDC? That stands for Western Digital Corp in my mind: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/wdc?ltr=1. Disney is DIS: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/DIS?p=DIS.

Not sure where you got that Photobucket is owned by Disney. http://photobucket.com/about makes no mention of them.

I learned in the 90's that 3rd party hosting is unreliable for anything more than a week and should be banned.

Most sites offer self hosted pics

And that is as it should be

It's complicated. Photobucket = Ontela = Steamboat Ventures (partial if not majority investor) = WDC.

If you live down here WDC always stands for Walt Disney Company, particularity if you've worked for them.

Many "liberal" media outlets are majority owned by conservatives
A few prominent conservative figures are even on their boards.

So Many things aren't openly advertised,
the man in the background who pulls the purse strings is usually the most important.
