I'll be there on the 5th only. It'll be my first visit after following the show for years. I'm excited to see it in person. Even if it's only for one day.

I wanted to go and was going to do a drive from LA but I did not register so no free ticket:(

There has been a few things... The faraday hoax was just that... a sham in my eyes...

Put up or shut up... Get a real vehicle out on the road and we'll talk!

Want to see the new Leaf!!!

No new leaf just more subtleties and speculation. Mostly autonomous vehicle talk

For anyone still attending CES on the last day (I will be), if you're into computer hardware, be sure check out the Gigabyte booth in the South Hall.

One of the craziest things I saw at CES was cooling via immersion in special 3M non-conductive fluid called Novec at the above booth. IIRC, boiling point of this fluid was around 50 C. Fluid boils and is condensed by the coils at the top of the rig and falls back down. As the guy showed me (which I did myself), my fingers are cooler than the fluid, so it condenses on my fingers and drips off. If you stick your fingers in, when you pull them out, fingers are dry. Fluid has evaporated.

Fluid is about $75/liter so there was $3K of fluid in there. He showed me a video briefly which was probably https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV7MDhqNyXE (skip to ~0:30) of a data center in Georgia (former Soviet Union) built by BitFury doing Bitcoin mining via their own ASICs. The portions I found with footage of the facilities and the equipment were from around 0:30 to ~1:25 and 4:30 to the end. I hadn't known of them since I don't follow the Bitcoin space.

A purpose of this fluid is to vastly increase data center equipment densities.

The guy staffing that area is interesting and many folks stopping by were intrigued by the "black magic".
