Anyone used them before for a security camera system install? Are they reputable? Do these guys do a good job of background checking their contractors?

I'm specifically talking about http://installcard.com/installcarddescriptions/ICList.aspx?ID=249.

Many consumer security camera kit companies have partnered with them like Swann, Lorex, Samsung, Zmodo, Q-See, etc.

Samsung: http://www.installernet.com/Article.aspx?ID=781
Swann: http://www.swann.com/us/professional-installation-us
Lorex: http://www.lorextechnology.com/support/self-serve/Lorex++Security+camera+installation/2700029
Zmodo: http://www.zmodo.com/installcard/
Night Owl: http://www.installcard.com/InstallCardDescriptions/InstallCardDetail.aspx?ID=176
Q-See: http://www.q-see.com/installation/

Besides them doing sub-par work, I'd always worry about anyone I don't know coming to my house and tipping off their buddies who happen to be criminals...

I'm not handy enough to properly install a camera system, esp. w/some cameras up high.

Anyone? My security camera + NVR kit showed up and appears to be working fine.

Looking for an installer still... Anyone had any experience with http://www.homedepot.com/c/Home_Services" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? Unfortunately, since they hire local contractors, one's experiences outside the SF Bay Area may not really apply to me.

Anyone? I'm in a holding pattern now... I'm down to 3 choices.

A) one guy who has been recommended by folks on Nextdoor but he's become very slow to respond to emails/voice mails with simple questions like "what's next?" "is this quote still good given a slight change?" "when can you do the work?" He did finally respond partially mentioning he's been very busy. His price was pretty good.

B) InstallerNet: Problem is, I have no idea who they will send and whether they're any good/sketchy, both from a background and quality of work POV. Price is reasonably good though.

C) Guy who seems very knowledgeable but also had been recently slow in getting back to me. He's about double the price though. He replied this morning mentioning they're very busy, as well.

I installed mine myself. It's not that difficult. Getting access to where you want the cameras is the hard part.

The cameras have one long cable that carries both power and video, meaning you don't need power where the camera is installed. At the DVR box, you have a transformer that powers one (or many, like my Zmodo) camera, and the other BNC plug goes to the back of your DVR. There are extension cables available if necessary.

Well, I don't have the time and am not handy enough to secure and hide wiring, fish wires thru walls or run conduit.

I also know very little about construction so besides heights, the biggest risk is drilling into a pipe or wiring, causing new problems. And, there's the risk of not properly weatherproofing the mounting holes and mounting points, causing eventual water damage to the house.

No thanks. Not something I want to take on personally. I'd rather hire licensed people who do this for a living and have done it MANY times vs. me having done it 0 times.
