The new King-of-the-Ring looks to be the McLaren P1. Also an electric hybrid.

So now the two fastest cars around the Nurburgring are owned by electric hybrids.

#1 - McLaren P1
#2 - Porsche 918

Will the Ferrari LaFerrari make it a hybrid-hat-trick?

Actually The Porsche 918 posted a time of 6:57. McLaren has failed to post their time. The only conclusion one can draw from that is the P1 failed to best the 918's time.

Ahhh... after re-reading the article, it seems that the claim of 6:47 was only made by a youtube poster. However McLaren has officially stated in the video below (from McLaren Automotive) that the P1 broke the 7 minute Nordschleife barrier. That being the case w/ out stating a time, it is still questionable as to whether is holds the record over the Porsche 918.

Being that there are only 2 production cars that claim a faster than 7-minute lap time, the only question is; which one was faster? At any rate, the 2 fastest production cars around the Nurburgring and the only ones to break the 7-minute mark are still electric-hybrids.
