Well, yes. Some of us plan to go with a Tesla for long distance travel. I'm waiting for the "affordable" Model 3; hope to get it in 2018, by which time the Supercharger routes I plan to use will be complete (only three SCs left to go).

And no, LEAFs can't use Tesla charge stations: both Level 2 "HPWC" and the Superchargers are Tesla only unless other car makers want to buy into the system and make cars capable of using them (none of which can, at present).

There are a number of threads on cars other than the LEAF in this forum, including several Tesla threads, such as this one.

We intend to have a Tesla HPWC / UMC adaptor this winter that will enable a LEAF (and other J1772 equipped cars) to use that charging equipment.

As of 9/5/15, Albuquerque, NM (1st use 9/4) with 6 stalls is listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 43/216/1,432.

Only Amarillo is needed to complete I-40 from Barstow to OKC.

Great news! As much as Tesla is helping the image of EVs to the general public to guys are doing more to help the flexibility of powering up all EVs. Keep up the great work!

Also, Price, UT has begun construction, and Amarillo, TX has received a permit.

Update: As of 9/24/15, Gillette, WY with 4 stalls is listed and mapped. Total U.S. SCs now 43/221/1,464. I've added this to my previous post announcing Tallahassee's opening as of that date. I-90 is now S60 SC-capable (at least in decent conditions) from Seattle to Cleveland, and needs only Erie, PA to complete it through to Boston. Similarly, Tallahassee makes I-10 S60 SC-capable from Jacksonville to New Orleans, with only Slidell, LA needed to make I-10/12 complete through to Houston, or (with a smallish detour) San Antonio.

End of September summary. Only 8 U.S. SCs completed during the month, for a total of 75 this year. To be on track they should have completed 109. At the current rate they'll complete about 100 by the end of the year, for a total around 246. At the start of the year, their 2015 map showed 145 more for a total of 291 at the end of the year, so they'll likely complete about 69% of those forecast, and as they've fallen at least 30% short each of the past two years this is business as usual for them.

On the positive side, several of the SCs commissioned last month closed major SC gaps and enabled all-SC S60 travel on highly traveled routes, including Columbia, MO. (completing all of I-70); Gillette, WY (I-90 from Seattle to Cleveland); and Tallahassee, FL (I-10 from New Orleans to Jacksonville). In addition, several SCs that began construction last month will close other significant gaps when completed. These include Price, UT (I-80 at SLC to I-70 at Green River); South Burlington, VT (completes Boston - Montreal); Amarillo, TX (completes I-40 from Barstow to OKC); and last (and very much delayed) but not least, Greenville, SC (completing I-85). Several others started will provide useful regional expansions, including Seabrook, NH (actually started in August, will open up southern Maine), Baxter, MN., Cadillac, MI; and Topaz Lake, NV; other starts are more in the nature of infill. Finally, several very useful sites, especially those off Interstates, have received permits.

As drees has pointed out in other threads, that potentially violates copyright law (and is certainly impolite to do if you haven't secured permission from the originator of the content), so I try to keep direct quotes and images to a minimum, and provide a link to the original source. Fair use is definitely a grey area. At a minimum, one should note and link to the source of information (Scott, your post above is missing this). Screenshots of marketing sites like teslamotors.com are nearly always pretty safe to post since you are helping spread the word. Screenshots of supercharge.info I would be hesitant to post. Screenshots of news sites I would be very hesitant to post - those sites are relying on page hits to pay the bills.

The easiest way to think of it is to put yourself in the Copyright holder's shoes and ask yourself if you would want someone posting screenshots of your work everywhere - the Golden Rule applies here like it does in so many other parts of life.

As far as the usefulness of GRA's posts - he's been doing the same thing for a while now and there haven't been any complaints - if people find them useful, they will read them, if not, they can unsubscribe or avoid the thread.

Would pictures help make things more interesting? Maybe - but again Copyright and Fair use could be an issue...

It gives a very concise overview and contains links for the data, and pretty pictures if I feel they need them.
