My quick swag is that the high battery resistance (low Hx) would have much more effect on range than trans fluid, etc. That and the high battery temp are probably the culprits. Is the range 'normal' on level roads?
I often use 2x the energy going up hills around here even though the regen on the way back down evens things out to nearly the same usage per mile as level ground. The heat generated by the I^2 * R losses in the pack is simply wasted. There is no way around that and if the R of you pack is high, running the car with high current is going to increase those losses.
