Recycle the raw material into better versions of the battery. Just like the Lead batteries, they were recycled and got better (for Lead technology anyway) over time as well. The standard FLA and SLA battery continue to have little improvements in capacity over the many years with the same weight. Not leaps and bounds like the Lithium or NiMH tech, but some improvement at least. Once the logistics of breaking the old lithium battery down to recycle are refined, it would place less burden on the Lithium mines around the world.
