please explain the charging levels for me

Thanks. Is there a table showing which years/trims have 3.3 kW vs 6.6 kW onboard charger?

please explain the charging levels for me

Please correct me if any of the info below is wrong. I read that the Leaf can do Level 1 and Level 2 charging. Level 1 is a standard outlet (120 V), and adds about 4 miles of range per hour of charge, while level 2 is from something like a dryer outlet (240 V) and adds about 20-25 miles of...

Where do you see build date?

Use VIN to find Leaf battery build date?

I'm looking for a used Leaf with a 04/13+ battery pack. Are there any free sites that will let you search by VIN and will tell you when the battery pack was manufactured? Should I assume the battery pack build date is the same as when the car was built? As an aside, what percentage of MY 2013...

not many used Leafs for sale locally (Tucson, AZ)

I live in Tucson, AZ. I don't see any used Leafs available locally on Craigslist or Autotrader, and only a few in Phoenix. What's my best option to purchase a used 04/13+ Leaf from a cooler climate? I see Carmax has a transfer option available on most listings, but cars from the NW have a $500+...

Advice on buying used Leaf in Tucson, AZ

Good to know, thanks. I don't have a daily commute though, my usage times will be different every day so probably do need the TCU.

Advice on buying used Leaf in Tucson, AZ

Hmm. But I'm trying to keep the price under $8k. Seems it will be a while before '15-'16 SVs are hitting those prices...

Advice on buying used Leaf in Tucson, AZ

Thanks. Tucson is a bit cooler than Phoenix. We get quite hot, but not the obscene heat that Phoenix gets. I know a couple Leaf owners here in Tucson who have not had significant range loss in 3+ years of ownership. I should check in with them again to see how their battery packs are doing.

Advice on buying used Leaf in Tucson, AZ

Some details. I own a home with a garage so can keep the Leaf protected from direct sun (although no A/C in the garage). I know the batteries will still degrade from the heat but at least the garage protection should help slow it down. I almost never drive more than 30 miles in a day. I am...

expected battery longevity for 2012 Leaf SL with 20K miles?

Thanks Reddy. The used buying guide says: Do the newer battery packs really have better heat tolerance? Can anyone point me to some data to back this up (or not)?

expected battery longevity for 2012 Leaf SL with 20K miles?

Wow, they certainly are falling in price. I was just emptying out a drawer, and I found a quote I got from the local Nissan dealership less than 3 years ago for a MY 2011 Leaf. They were asking $22,495! Talk about crazy fast depreciation...

expected battery longevity for 2012 Leaf SL with 20K miles?

Wow, you really think the value of a used Leaf would fall that low? Seems the frame and other parts, if in good working order, would keep a higher value than that, but perhaps I am deluding myself. Also, I wanted to ask, does anyone know yet if the new "lizard" battery packs are performing...

expected battery longevity for 2012 Leaf SL with 20K miles?

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I should give a little more info on my driving habits and what I need for the car I'm looking to purchase. I average about 4,000 miles driven per year, or about 11 miles a day. I very rarely travel more than 25 miles in a single day, so it seems even with...

expected battery longevity for 2012 Leaf SL with 20K miles?

Thanks for your input, Leftie. I looked at some photos of the Leaf I'm considering buying -- I count 10 bars (8 white and 2 red at the bottom). Do you lose bars faster the more miles you drive? I know it depends on if you charge to 100% or 80%, driving conditions, etc, but do the battery packs...

expected battery longevity for 2012 Leaf SL with 20K miles?

I am considering buying a 2012 Leaf SL with 20K miles. I live in Tucson, AZ (up to 105-110 F in the summer), have covered parking -- how long can I reasonably expect to be able to use the original battery pack that came with the car? I only drive about 4,000 miles a year. Will the batteries last...

    Tucson area Leafers

Hi everyone, I live in Tucson and am strongly considering leasing a Leaf and would like to get some input. My plan is to use the Leaf for city driving/commuting around town. How much do the extremely hot summer days affect the Leaf in terms of reduced range? Is parking the car in direct sun a...
