    Nissan Leaf and the Olympics

Hi Jessica, I'm wondering if/what Nissan has planned for the Olympics? Are there going to be any Nissan Leafs available for viewing? Are you giving any away as prizes? Any free t-shirts etc?

Solar Panels to help charge the batteries

That's exactly what I'm saying though. Solar panels just don't produce enough for the cost. I guess you are right, that at least if you can buy the huge ones and put them on the roof of your house it would help. But what about this? Most of the time that you're driving your Nissan Leaf it'll...

Kinda Cool - Nissan leaf on Edmunds

I found this link on Edmunds when I was looking at other vehicle stuff... it got me excited about the Nissan Leaf again so I wanted to post it on this Nissan Leaf Forum. When the Leaf shows up on sites like this, you know it's not too far off! http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/leaf/2011/review.html...

not so new to the forum

Hi Everyone, I'm not so new to the My Nissan Leaf Forum... I've been here for a month or so already? But this section wasn't here when I registered, so I thought i'd take a minute and introduce myself. I own a prius, hence the username prius, and it's great. My wife and I do most of our...

Solar Panels to help charge the batteries

Very true... I wouldn't park my brand new Nissan Leaf out in the hot California sun! It'd be parked in my garage... but then the solar panel wouldn't do any good, unless it was removable. Ha, that sounds like another forum topic altogether! I don't think that a solar panel would do enough to...

Youtube Videos of Nissan Leaf in San Francicso

Wow! I'm surprised at how fast the Nissan Leaf accelerates! I mean it's obviously hard to tell because I'm just watching a video, not actually riding in it, but it appears to have some pretty good get-up-and-go! Anyone on this forum actually driven in the leaf at one of their tour stops?

    Nissan Lnad Glider

You mean Land Glider, right? :P That thing is pretty cool! I guess it's the same as any other small car... would you feel safe gliding along in your Nissan with all of those giant domestic SUVs and Trucks on the road? You need flashing lights on top or something so people see you!!

    Pricing

"...will start filtering into select markets in the U.S., Europe and Japan next year and will go global in 2012 at a price just 1% to 2% higher than similar-size vehicles, the carmaker said. Industry estimates range from $25,000 to $33,000 for the car" And of course, the ever-heated debate...

    North American Tour!

The Nissan Leaf tour starts next week! Apparently the dates have changed, because originally Nissan said the tour would start on the 13th but now the Nissan USA website says the first stop is Los Angeles on Saturday the 14th. Is anybody on this forum from that area? I'd like to hear what the...

    Interest in Nissan Leaf Growing

Apparently as of October 1st, almost 22,000 people in the US had expressed interest in the Nissan Leaf. That's a huge number considering last year Nissan sold about 18000 Versas and about 25000 Sentras.

    Nissan Executive

\ Nissan executive Carlos Ghosn told reporters in Beijing Thursday that Nissan’s electric cars will have a price competitive with comparable gasoline-fueled cars in three years – even without government subsidies

    Nissan Leaf vs Chevy Volt

Recently, vice chairperson of marketing Bob Lutz indicated that nearly 50,000 consumers have registered at GM’s website, indicating a “strong intention” to buy the plug-in hybrid vehicle, while Bob Kruse, GM’s top electric car exec and Chevy Volt pointman, steps down. Why? This makes no...

    Standardisation or Bust!

Someone really needs to step up to the plate here and get things moving, I don't know if that's auto-makers that need to work together or the government that has to mandate things... If each car company builds there own battery pack size, style, etc, there is going to be chaos, and nothing will...

    Things Nissan Shoulda, Coulda, Didna

I wonder what Nissan is thinking. I mean, I like their idea and all, but from a business standpoint, unless the government starts mandating that vehicles have to be electric, people will still stick with what they know, what is convenient, what is cheap, and that is a gasoline powered...

    Lithium Stocks could rise

I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself nissanrules. Really any battery or any car for that matter, electric or not, will eventually end up in a landfill. Also keep in mind that the lithium batteries are rechargeable, so they wouldn't end up in landfills for at least 5 years :D...

    Lithium Stocks could rise

Is lithium really that popular? I had no idea. Is the Leaf going to use lithium-ion batteries? Those have been around for like 10 years. There's really nothing better out there yet?

Nissan's History with the Lithium Ion Battery

Just noticed this on the Nissan Site: Beginning Nov. 14, a drivable version of the Leaf (in the body of the Versa compact) will be on tour in the United States.

leaf power is comparable to gas vehicles

From the looks of pictures of the Trabant EV, the Leaf is more spacious inside. If you added more batteries you could get the distance, but you'd sacrifice interior space, adn the overall vehicle weight could make it handle differently. Don't you think the Leaf is mainly for in-city commuters...
