    "Tink"

I had an issue like this with my 2012 LEAF at relatively low mileage. Noise happened during the start of acceleration or the start of deceleration. It was sort of a "click" or "tick" noise. "Tink" to me sounds like there's some sort of resonance, and if that's the case, you may be looking at a...

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

The wording is designed to give them wiggle room to do a more cost-effective weakest cell replacement in order to restore capacity to a minimum level. In practice, they don't do this and just replace it with a brand new pack. But the warranty as worded gives them that option.

    Out of state lease question

I did back in 2012 when LEAF wasn't available in Michigan, I leased from an Ohio dealer. No issues.

Public discussion of Tony Williams ban from Mynissanleaf

Free speech, blah blah blah, private property, blah blah, rules, blah blah. Let's get down to it: Tony said something, a mod got butthurt, Tony got banned. That's all that happened. That's all that ever happens when old timers of any forum get the ban hammer. But I will say this- I would...

    Prospective buyer of a '13 S

The LEAF is not a good fit for someone who can't plug in at home. Neither is the Volt, but at least you would have some flexibility. There's a roughly $4,000 price difference between used Volts and LEAFs of similar age and miles and equipment, so to get the same Volt for the same price, you'll...

    End of Lease Strategies?

It's called cashing out and it's totally legal. It's only fraud if you attempt to make another claim for the same damage. It's common in the auto insurance world, but in home insurance where many claims are hazards or can result in future liability, underwriters may insist that the home be...

    Leasing a 2017 Volt

Just a quick update now that I've had it for over a month- I'm not in love with the Volt. Don't get me wrong, it's a good car and it's fun to drive, but when I got the LEAF, I immediately fell in love with it and I loved the car through to the end. This Volt feels more like a normal car. It's...

    Brake failure on nissan leaf

I disagree. All reports from owners should be made public, particularly when it comes to serious issues.

    Leasing a 2017 Volt

LT trim with bose, comfort package (heated steering wheel and seats), siren red tintcoat, ash interior. $352/mo with tax, $0 down, 15,000 miles per year, 36 months. I live in Michigan so there are absolutely no deals on Volts here, so I certainly overpaid relative to California. We get half the...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

Even in California, there's no car cheaper than the LEAF that can do 100+ miles. The Kia Soul EV comes close I guess.

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

Why would anyone buy a LEAF? 40kWh LEAF is a month or two away from nationwide availability, and even then, it might not be a Gen 2 body (but who knows). Bolt is likely 6 months away from nationwide availability. Model 3 is at least 18 months away from nationwide availability. If you can wait...

Pulled the trigger today on a '15 SL (obligatory first post)

Can I ask how much you paid for it? I'm looking for a cheap used LEAF myself and I'm wondering what the '15's are going for. I'm looking at a 2012 SL with 48K miles asking $6800. Might be able to get them down below $6000 considering what some people are negotiating with NMAC these days.

is this a good lease deal?

    Miles / year?

Is anyone abandoning the Leaf due to gas price dropping?

We never saw the 2016 Volt despite the fact that it was built just a few miles away. I expect the same roll-out plan will be used for Bolt. I'm tempted to get a lease on a 30kWh LEAF SL but with residuals the way they are, a 2 year lease would kill me.

Is anyone abandoning the Leaf due to gas price dropping?

I've been on gas since the beginning of the year because I thought a more compelling product (or more compelling price on the Volt) was just around the corner, but never due to cheap gas. Due to my tax situation, my only option is to get into an EV lease that offers at least the full $7500 tax...

2016 LEAF Lease: $12,825 cash back (Labor Day Special)

2017 is soon to be released but it will be the same old body and interior and should come with a 30kWh and 40kWh battery option. My guess is 30kWh for S trim and 40kWh for SV and SL. 2018 will be the next generation model.

Rumor: Leaf 2017 to get 40kWh

When the 24kWh battery was upped to 30kWh, Nissan made it available in all 50 states and offered $10,000 on the hood for leases and $4,000 on the hood for purchases through NMAC. There's no reason to expect Nissan won't do the same for the 40kWh upgrade for the 2017. The Bolt will be market...

    I hate dealers!

Same issue with a lot of dealers. They will either respond with "what's a number I can reach you at" or "how about you come in and we'll talk" even though I was very clear in the email that I would prefer to do my initial business via email. GM dealers have been a lot better about this lately...

Looking to buy a used Leaf, need advice

11 bars is neither here nor there, and $15,000 is about $5,000 too expensive. There are two strategies to buying used LEAFs: 1) Buy a battery that is wasted with the intent to seek a warranty replacement. 2) Buy the battery with the least degradation. I think your best value is #1 if you...
