    dumb question about quick charging

Agreed, ,. Most houses have a center tapped single;e phase circuit. From both legs ignoring the neutral is 240vVAC

    Specs for 240v outlet/breaker

The EVSE signals the current available via the pilot. If there is an amount equal or greater than the car needs the car;s charger sets the current. Any excess is ignored. My EVSE is a 40A unit connected to a 50A circuit that charged my "B" at 49A. The same EVSE charges my IoniQ at 28.5A. The...

    Leaf EVSE for other EVs

Many EVSE;s are dual voltage. I think the JuiceBox is or at least it was and the OpenEVSE can be made dual voltage. In the OpenEVSE it is just a matter of using a 12V relay Same with the JuiceBox.. The two basic JuicveBox units had 12V relays running on the 15V supply. I do not know what they...

Switch off the nagging privacy screen at startup time?

My Mercedes never had it and my Ioniq times out so I am good.

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

s understand it earlier in this thread there is instructions on making the unit dumb. you might want to kill its intelligence first and see what happens.

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

heck across the contactor coil to see if it has voltage first. I use keying relays on the DIY openEVSE boards and I have never had one fail. The non-DIY version has a built in solid state driver.

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

I have never seen a real life unit. I have just purchased cables on eBay. I think that setting the un=its t0 24A helped a lot. I received a cable with appalling Crimps that was unburned. On the contsctor side it the contacts look clean than I would not replace it. Instead I would meter the...

    Level II EVSEs at Costco

China seems to have no enforcement of rules. Many Chinese EVSE's claim to be J1772 but they lack the GFCI circuit. Just beware of what you purchase. Units with no GFCI protection work fine normally but they lack a defined protection. Very early OpenEVSE boards lacked GFCI but they worked fine...

Level 2 charging for 5-7 hours outdoors in the rain

I have never seen a bad seal on a working EVSE. I have purchased from eBay a cable with a bad seal. It was fixed before installing in a EVSE. It was just a matter of seating the seal.

Why the clock is not adjusted?

My Mercedes b250e automatically set the clock. My IoniQ requires me to set it twice a year. It is no big deal since it is only twice a year.. Yes the programmer was lazy. My clocks set it automatically at home. but I can live with manually setting it.

Blink / Rav4 Blows Out a Contactor Pin (with gory pics)

I purchased a Rema Blink Cable From eBay. The crimp was awful. I think that setting The current to 24A was a good thing since the pins were unburned Repairing a cable is documented .on MNL in the blink section..

Recommendation for 24 Amp (30A circuit) EVSE

I have an OpenEVSE that I built that has a 14-30 plug for sale. In my care I purchased the wrong power cable. I was going for a 14-50 but I screwed up. Since I had the cable I built a 24A EVSE.

How to check outlet power output?

All you can do is check the breaker. If your compressor is on a normal circuit then it may be a 20A breaker. The stock Leaf EVSE is set for 12A (80% of 15A). That is the NEC max for a 15A circuit. As long as your compressor has a plug on it it draws less than 15A. If it is hard wired then it...

CA owners - are you removing your white/green HOV decals?

On my Ioniq I did not bother with the stickers. My eGolf came with them so I mounted them on some magnetic sign material and kept them in the glove compartment. I really have no need for the HOV lanes. In fact I rarely drive on freeways these days.

Level 2 charging for 5-7 hours outdoors in the rain

It's not necessary and kind of a waste of time. If the car has a problem it'll stop charging. The EVSE has internal ground fault protection too. Many of the Chinese EVSE's lack GFCI protection. As long as everything is OK they work fine but they lack the full J1772 specs.

    e Golf

My problem with the eGolf is that it was too low to the ground. The goilf is a sports platform and I did not fit. Otherwise it was fune. I do fit into my IoniQ and I really like all of the safety nannies, The Mercedes B was a minimum effort CARB car.

    OpenEVSE support

I delivered my EVSE. The 12V converter shorted and it took the power supply. It did not work with a 25 foof OpenEVSE cable. I measured the capicaty to ground on the L wires and it was excessive. I am currently using a Quick Chaege cable. I sent back one for excessive cap. It checked fine DC wise...

    OpenEVSE support

I do not feel any different. Friends tell me that I am not as sharp as I used to be. The major problem I have is with small wires. My father had Parkinson disease. I really hope I do not also have it since there is no cure. I am not sure that I want to know. I have an OpenEVse unit for repair...
