Well my M3 LR is now over 4 years old and even when new did not have the range that current ones do. But to answer the question, it definitely would not. Right now my 100% charge yields me right around 300 miles of range from 100 to 0, and that's in cooperative weather. It would not do that...

Very true. There are at least a few L2 charging options (probably not ideal for going to a football game), and there are several options in different directions heading into and out of Greenville, but yes, nothing right in town. BTW, I have started a new site to track fastchargers if you want...

Certainly for a low-range EV like the first-gen LEAF, that makes sense. For a car with a range of 250 miles, not so much. So I think the question of "Why?" is definitely valid in the context of the vehicle we are talking about.

Very true...I was distracted writing that post. Of course weight makes a difference in that it will increase rolling resistance. My main thinking was accelerating the weight, not so much the effect the weight is going to have on the contact patch on the tires, which is also important. In the...

Tires (and tire pressure) and other drivetrain components (motor, inverter) probably have an effect as well, although Tesla may have a detriment with their active thermal battery pack management system and greater weight (although on flat highway at constant speed, weight should not matter)...

Yes, I am totally amazed out how slippery this car is on the highway.

Metro area...that's a funny one considering the starting point! Start is Potsdam, NY (or that general region) and end is Durham, NC, but I take I-81 all the way to Staunton, VA and then US-29 to Danville, VA and then NC-86 for the rest of the way. So the first 45 minutes is on US-11 which is...

In my case my daily/local use is almost never highway (maybe about 2-3 miles a day are highway, but only one exit. I have much better efficiency on trips than local use. I chalk this up to the car being very aerodynamic, the fact that I don't really push the speed too much (I generally set the...

I've highlighted the key word. Again, even though the TeslaFi fleet reports may not indicate it (possibly because of the way their data is collected), I still think this is a case of newbie EV owners that are nervous about that initial drop in the range estimate that their car shows. They...

You're not giving us much information on where the plot you posted came from or the background of the user (is this the 6.7% degradation person you spoke of earlier?), but if you look at my TeslaFi plot, you can see that the estimated 100% range figure has jumped around quite a lot over the...

True, the early drop-off is certainly not evident here, but part of the problem may be with how TeslaFi collects that data, including the fact that people that don't sign up for TeslaFi and start tracking until 6-12 months into their ownership won't really accurately be reflected in the data...

Here is my TeslaFi "fleet" report: As you can see the "fleet" is pretty small. Only 70 vehicles in it for my Model 3 variant and mileage. Plus it's technically in "beta". The starting mileage for the fleet is 312.59, while the ending mileage is 306.88. That's a 1.8% capacity loss. Maybe...

    Official Tesla Model 3 thread

I think this is a relative newbie that hasn't had enough time with the car to determine that, like the LEAF, there is an initial drop-off of capacity that flattens out significantly. Of course I just went to check my own report...it's a bit hard to determine what my loss actually is because...

Yes, quite true, although I assumed the OP did not have a DC fast charger at home :) I suppose if I can be pedantic, then it's fair game for everyone. By the way, I think this fact is an overlooked advantage that Tesla has over all other charging network providers. Basically the chargers that...

This may sound pedantic, but I think we need to get some terminology straight, because I am confused about what you are saying. The CHARGER is inside the car. So let's not use that term or anything outside the car. The EVSE is the device that plugs into the wall (or is hardwired to the...

Just use the adapter. No need to to pay $500 for a wall charger that will allow you to charge in 70 minutes rather than 80. There are only two drawbacks I can think of. First, you need to remember to take the adapter with you on trips. I bought a second one for $70 so I could keep one in the...

It sounds like you either have information related to out of warranty maintenance & repair costs of Model 3, or you are making the assumption that Model S costs will translate to Model 3. I'm not saying that is or isn't the case, but just wondering how sure we are that Model 3 maintenance costs...

Doug, did you ever get an answer to this part of your question? The answer is yes, you can disable data and/or location sharing.

Yes, long range RWD for me. The entire trip altogether was about $59 in Supercharging. This was for 1914 miles total trip, but I did start out with a 100% charge, end with 10%, and charged a few times (non-Supercharger) en route, including filling up to 100% at a hotel the night before the...

Sorry for the latest response...returned recently from my annual long distance trip up north. I can report that on the afternoon of July 3rd at the Glen Allen Supercharger on I-95 that there was no problem with crowding at the Supercharger. Did not have to share power with anyone. Granted...
