Considering a 2018 or a 2019 Leaf, but I'm concerned about my 96 mile round trip up and down a mountain.

You are much better off than if it was the other way around. If you live on top of a mountain and charge up to 100% at home, you will have no regenerative braking as you go down the mountain at the start of the journey.

    Spare Tire?

I recently had a fast puncture having hit a pothole. I tried the gloop and pump but it was no good. Luckily only a half mile from home, so I drove. The plan next day was to take off the bad wheel and drive it to my local garage in our second car. I knew there was no spare when I bought the car...

How often do you drive without ECO?

There are plenty of reasons why lifting the epedal applies the hydraulic brakes, but they all boil down to safety. This will be true on any electric car when the requested deceleration exceeds 0.1G. The attached 2013 paper should help clarify. I guess the Leaf "B" mode never asks for more than...

How often do you drive without ECO?

I too would normally tend to believe the manufacturer. I am a design engineer and I usually rely on manufacturers’ data when incorporating their products in my designs. However my doubts were raised when a friend of mine who has a leaf and always has epedal on found that his brakes had worn out...

Comparison: Why I Chose a Nissan Leaf Plus over a Tesla Model 3

I have several reasons for buying a Leaf rather than a Tesla (or any other electric car) but here are the two deciders. #1 I know the technology is not out there to use it yet, but the Leaf is one of very few cars you can get power out of the battery. This can turn the car into part of national...

How often do you drive without ECO?

I know the Nissan web site says that the brakes are not used to slow you down when you use epedal, but I don’t believe this is true. Here is an experiment you can do to prove it to yourself. Take a drive with the battery fully charged using epedal and (when safe to do so) take your foot off the...

Why is e-pedal so detrimental to efficiency?

If I may add my bit, I have read through all the replies and I think some have made useful observations about how much "hidden" application of friction brakes is going on when you use ePedal, but that does not fully explain either why this happens or why it ruins efficiency. International...

So, owners what range are you getting ?

I’ve had my 39k Accenta for a year now and I am very pleased with the 180mile estimated range. I know that this is only an estimate, but I also get a long term average 4.5 miles/kWh; which ties in with that estimate. That average was last reset in February, so it is a good combination of Summer...
