no heating: (Blower runs but only cold air) (2012)

I got a replacement heater for my 2012 from a scrapper in Souther California. Guessed it hadn't been used much, given the climate down there. It was still working when I sold the car last year. Cost £400 and £300 to install by my local garage (in the UK).

Anyone added a second drive battery?

Thanks, cornbinder. I was thinking weight and safety would be crucial, but didn't know if anyone had tried it anyway. As Stanton says, probably best just to save up for a longer-range EV.

Anyone added a second drive battery?

My 2014 Leaf is down to about 40 miles range in the winter, 60 in summer. Has anyone successfully added another battery? I would have thought you could connect another one in series so that when the first one gets low, the second one kicks in. There's plenty of room in the boot! Or am I just a...

    My leaf is thrumming

Thanks, everyone for the input on this. I noticed the other day that it changes frequency (the hum pulses, normally with about a 3 second cycle) while the engine speed remains constant. So I know it's not the motor. It also didn't vary with road speed, which seems to rule out a bearing/CV joint...

    My leaf is thrumming

Thanks, Leftie. I'll have them take a look. I also like GerryAZ's idea that it could be a vibrating shield. But the vibration really transmits through the body of the car.

    My leaf is thrumming

Hi GerryAZ: Are the shields you're talking about the plastic ones under the motor? There is one that goes all the way from the front bumper to behind the motor, and there seem to be two smaller ones on each side that just go from the bumper to the wheel arch. I notice I'm missing a vertical...

    My leaf is thrumming

I have a worrying sound from my 2014 Leaf. When it hits about 56mph there is a thrumming sound from in front of me. It seems to be coming from the engine compartment. It gets louder (even if you don't go any faster) and you can feel the vibration through your feet and the steering wheel. It...

    CHAdeMO not working

12V battery was replaced 8 months ago. This problem pre-dates that. It's not just error codes: it's that the CHAdeMO actually doesn't work. The charger tells me there is an initialization problem on the vehicle side.

    CHAdeMO not working

I should also add that I have various other DTCs showing on LeafSpy: 3 ABS codes, 5 BCM codes, 4 BRAKE codes, 1 HV Battery code (B2109 0008 IPDM/ER), 6 Multi AV codes and 1 TCU code (U1A05 0008 TCU USB Comm AV-199. More info given if needed.

    CHAdeMO not working

Dala on YouTube suggested I start a new thread for this. I have a 2012 Leaf and the CHAdeMO chrager has never worked since I bought it a year ago. Nissan want me to drive 80 miles and charge me £250-3000 to diagnose and/or fix it, and it could take 3-6 weeks. According to LeafSpy I used to have...

How do I calculate my cost per mile?

Thanks, marktm. I just bought a 2014 Leaf and it shows I'm getting 3.4miles/kWh, so I know it's costing me between 3p and 4p a mile. I wish the 2012 had a similar function on its display, but it doesn't seem to. But I'm guessing it's not substantially different. This compares very favourably...

How do I calculate my cost per mile?

I'm charging up at 12p per Kwh. But how do I convert that into a figure for cost per mile? It's a 2012 Leaf, and I'm not sure if it tells me what my efficiency is.

    Dismantling CHAdeMO socket

So the CHAdeMO socket attaches to two fat cables that plug into the block behind it. I can't remove it because I've not figured out how to detach the connections from the block. They have locks at the top, but clearly they have another lock somewhere less visible so you can't pull them off...

    Dismantling CHAdeMO socket

Thank you both! I'll give it a try. Does anyone know what access I will have once I unbolt the socket from the car body? Will I be able to clean up any connections?

    Dismantling CHAdeMO socket

When I posted here that my CHAdeMO socket was not working (which I found out after I bought the vehicle), someone suggested checking for corrosion behind the socket. That seemed unlikely to me since corrosion is not a big issue in the south of England. A month ago the registration plate light...

Can I charge using my Type1 to Type 2 charging cable using a CCS charger?

I've tried looking this up everywhere online and nobody gives a straight answer. So I have a Type 1 to Type 2 cable. The Type 2 end is the same as the top part of the CCS charging socket. Can I just plug in my Type 2 plug into a CCS socket and charge my 2011 Leaf? The CHAdeMo socket doesn't work...

Thanks, Leftie. Wish I had read your buyer's guide before I bought it.

    So many problems...

I bought a 2012 Leaf in May this year and it has been a heap of trouble. First the touch screen/radio/SatNav system wouldn't work. The touch screen didn't respond. Nissan don't have replacements, but if they did they would cost in excess of £2,000. I had to have one imported from a breaker in...

Can't get a fast charge on ChaDeMo charger socket

Ok, cleared the codes but couldn't get a CHAdeMO charger that worked in my town until today. Problem still exactly the same, I'm afraid. I plugged in the CHAdeMO, the app said the charging session was starting, the blue lights on the dash lit up (the battery was about half full), then...

Can't get a fast charge on ChaDeMo charger socket

Thanks, Gerry. I'm going to clear the codes this afternoon. I'll let you know!
