    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

My limited experience with the Setec device was to make the modifications as I posted at the top of this thread, and to run some appliances off of a 5 kW step-down transformer. Can't really speak to wiring up a critical loads panel, but it should be doable with the help of a licensed...

Setec Vehicle-to-Load 6 kW Discharge Inverter

Thanks Mark & Leftie for the comments and suggestions. I decided to cancel the auction, replace the receptacle with a NEMA 6-50R, and then see about selling the Setec together with the Leaf locally. I think the ultimate buyer of this will just want V2L for emergencies or remote power supply at...

Setec Vehicle-to-Load 6 kW Discharge Inverter

It's putting out 220 V. There is a potentiometer to adjust this (photo & description on the other discussion thread), and I did raise it up close to 240 V. What I found is if you do this the output power can get kind of wonky as this is the ragged edge of the unit's output. I also tried to bring...

Setec Vehicle-to-Load 6 kW Discharge Inverter

Sure, here are a few little quirks: 1. Setec provides no user manual for these V2L products. But I've found customer support to be quite responsive, and will provide contact information to whoever buys this. 2. Setec's 6 kW version normally ships with a couple of Schuko sockets for the 220V...

Setec Vehicle-to-Load 6 kW Discharge Inverter

Hey gang, I'm parting with my Setec CHAdeMO 6 kW discharge inverter. We have had a good discussion about this product here: https://mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=32620 For those interested, the eBay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/154896111007

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

Hey gang, I decided to sell the Setec device, and will probably sell the Leaf too. Appreciate your input and comments. Was able to provide Dala with a CANBUS log of a session for his CCS project, and will probably continue my journey with V2X by way of a new Ioniq 5 as this has V2L as a...

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

Will scout around for a 220V appliance to use as a direct load bank. Meanwhile, I tried a few times this evening to power my EVSE with the Setec at 220V. Sure enough, the Setec disconnects the V2L session within one second. Interested in the RAPI code to allow ungrounded use. Any danger in...

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

I could try using the 220V Setec output directly to an EVSE to charge another vehicle. This is attractive in that my EVSE has an LCD display showing kWh passing through it. You mention in a prior post that it might not work due to the floating ground. Ideas on how to mitigate this?

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

OK, I replaced the $20 battery and got my Setec up and running again to make some observations. Q. When Setec unit is kept on, but no load, what is the idle load? What state does the leaf remain at? A. Once the V2X session is started the LEAF's three blue lights on the dash look just like they...

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

Hey gang, This is becoming a very interesting thread. I posted some photos on the opening post - take a look. I was going to take some of the measurements requested by Marktm and Dala, but unfortunately the little internal 12V start-up battery has again completely failed. To reiterate what I...

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

OK, I started with a full charge and then loaded up the Setec last night with two 1.5 kW space heaters pulling power off the CHAdeMO port. LeafSpy indicated SOC at 95.4% with the HV Battery at 394.8 and 53.8 AHr remaining when I started. After a few hours the garage was nice and toasty :) but...

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

Great questions. - Yes, I found somewhere a presentation by Nissan in Europe a number of years ago that the Leaf will terminate the CHAdeMO power output session once SOC reaches a specified percentage. With my 24 kWh Leaf this is around 32 miles of range left on the "guess-o-meter" out of 84...

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

Hey gang, sorry I haven't visited this post for a while. I gave some thought to the warranty question before getting my Setec unit. From the Warranty Booklet: This warranty does not cover damage, failures or corrosion resulting from or caused by… misuse, such as overloading, using the vehicle...

    My Setec CHAdeMO Vehicle-to-Home Mods

Some time ago I ordered from China the Setec V2H device to pull power off my Leaf's CHAdeMO port. I paid a little extra to get the 6 kW @ 240V version rather than getting the 3 kW version @ 120V. Feeding this into 5 kW step-up/step-down transformer gives me plenty of power to run critical loads...
