    100 kW Charging

I don't get it. Why would anyone want to charge a battery which doesn't have active thermal management, at a 50kw rate? Or is this something you do only occasionally while on an unexpectedly long trip?

    Now I'm getting nervous...

I drive a 2016 with the 30kwh battery. The car has been quite reliable, but the traction battery has degraded to ~20kwh (8/12 bars). (I have heard the 30kwh battery was one of the worst Nissan produced.) But, the electric driving experience is so much better than ICE, I will continue to drive...

Feature requests/input for MUXSAN 45kWh replacement LEAF battery

    1. You said your offering has air cooling. Please clarify. Do you mean forced-air cooling? 2. You should be letting us know what the price will be. 3. You said this is NMC chemistry. Isn't it the case that LFP or LMFP cells would provide a longer-lived pack? (That's what I keep hearing.)

    My first Leaf

Don't buy it! 3/12 bars is ridiculously low. In case you are not aware: many say the 30kwh "lettuce pack" (?) battery supplied in 2016-2017 models, is the WORST battery pack Nissan produced. I conclude that the dealer/person trying to sell you this car, is about as unethical as they come. So...

    $12k to replace 24kwh battery?

I have a 2016 with 8/12 bars. I checked in with a Nissan dealer a couple years ago and they quoted $13500 to replace my failing 30kwh pack with a 40kwh pack. NOT a good deal. What I'd really like is the LFP-based pack with thermal management which EvsEnhanced.com said they were going to bring...

Amperage to charge for Level 2

My charger is on a 240v 50a circuit. The charger can be set for 10, 16, or 32 amps but I almost always charge at 10 amps to minimize stress on the battery (which has 9/12 bars).

An influx of Chinese cars is terrifying the West

Search "Chinese EV fires" on youtube. Not comforting. Perhaps Chinese brands are more worthwhile if the consumer restricts purchase to cars using LFP or M3P batteries?

What is your Average miles per kwh?

Thanks for the suggestion, but there is no electricity meter among the dashboard options where you find stuff like average speed, etc. (This is on a 2016 model.) There has to be an accumulator for kwh somewhere in the data Leaf keeps, but it isn't visible on the dashboard. However, people...

Do I need to keep my key in a coffee can and arrange an armored pocket?

Leaf is not on the list of the most popular cars to steal. Don't know how Leaf security compares to Tesla, but it's interesting to note that Tesla cars are the least likely cars to be stolen. Could find no info on the searchable internet about security issues with the Nissan fob.

What is your Average miles per kwh?

It's possible the dashboard display lies! I don't have a dongle and LeafSpy, so I can't verify whether the dashboard display is correct.

Nissan Sakura EV and Mitsubishi eK X EV kei cars

112 miles of range is inadequate when you live in a city that has moved their airport to the boonies. As in Denver. A Leaf 40kwh is the minimum vehicle that could get me to & from DEN without a charging stop, considering that the trip will need a functional heater, and allowance for battery...

What is your Average miles per kwh?

My 2016 30kwh, according to the dashboard display, averages 5.0 miles/kwh. I'm not a hypermiler, and I floor it when I need to, but in everyday driving I am always looking at signals & traffic ahead for an opportunity to coast, get regen (via B or ECO in addition to the brake pedal) as much as...

    Changing a Flat

I also have a hydraulic jack, but I noticed that there are 2 notches in the sheet metal flange in front of the rear wheels, and behind the front wheels, on my 2016 Leaf. So I took the bumper jack out of wife's car, put it between the notches, and up it went. Easily. This car was made to have a...

Has EVsEnhanced.com exited the replacement battery market?

Thanks for the information. I was not aware of leafrepairnetwork.com and the LRN battery. Unfortunately of the 6 businesses in the LRN network, none are anywhere close to my state (Colorado) and the lack of thermal management and fast charging for Leafs, mean these cars can't be driven long...

Has EVsEnhanced.com exited the replacement battery market?

Back in Dec 2021, the folks at evsenhanced.com launched their effort to provide a Leaf traction battery replacement that includes active thermal management, using a dielectric liquid. They stated release would occur late 2022, but a year has elapsed and that has never happened. Does anyone...

protocol for dealing with Nissan on 30kwh battery replacement?

I drive a 2016 Leaf with the 30kwh traction battery. It has become obvious the battery is degrading rapidly, and that I may end up dealing with Nissan to get a replacement under warranty. I have seen conflicting information on the web saying that owners should contact Nissan even before the...

Nissan announcement: termination of NissanConnect services on older Leafs

Nissan recently sent out an email to owners of older Leafs that use AT&T 3G to provide telematic services. AT&T is turning off 3G, thus cars like my 2016 will lose telematics by Feb 2022. The main thing I was interested in knowing was whether loss of telematics would cause clock drift, so I...

    82k full bars

I have been suspicious that un-ethical dealers could apply the "BMS Reset" patch to make a car temporarily have 12 bars. I would definitely want to know what the repair history of the car is; was there a pack replacement? If there was no replacement, 12 bars after 82k miles sounds like a...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

Was the $8500 cost for a 24kwh battery, or larger? Reason I ask is that I thought I had read somewhere, that Nissan does all replacements with 40kwh packs. I have a 2016 with a 30kwh pack that has lost 2 bars. As of Aug 2021, a Denver-area Nissan dealer quoted a cash price of $13,500 to...
