Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

Orlando zip code https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/all-cars/nissan/leaf/orlando-fl?newSearch=false&searchRadius=200&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&startYear=2018 I count 10 for under 13K that are 2018+ with 40 kWh batteries, and another 9 between 13-14K In addition, you could sell off your old...

Cynically, I think it's just become cheaper for Nissan to do replacements again rather than buyouts Buyouts are based on customer acquisition price but that can be way above current market value so Nissan might be unable to resell those units with lemon title easily. Also, Canada never had...

On the bright side new claims should start slowing down as more vehicles have aged out of the 8 year warranty, although I guess the depends on how many vehicles are hitting 8 bars under the wire

A CBC report already exists for the Leaf, and fairly recently too. I did email the author after reading it, but didn't hear back https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/electric-vehicle-battery-replacement-1.7066842. For those asking, I didn't get a loaner as I wasn't offered one. I left my...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

I just hit a year on my warranty replacement claim in BC Canada for a 2016 SV. I did escalate to Nissan Canada, who have informed me multiple times there is no buyback program in Canada, but there is also no ETA on replacement. I am getting a copy/paste SMS every 2 weeks from my current Nissan...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

My every 2 weeks update ended up being one update after 2 weeks and then nothing thereafter. 2016 been waiting since Feb 2023 in BC. I have read of 2018+ getting replacements within 3 months in Facebook groups, generally due to failing cells. Sounds like ER triage honestly, and mine is the hip...

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

I sent Nissan Canada an email last night after my dealer hung up on me for the 4th time in 3 months, and 2 callbacks that I have never received. It's like they have my number flagged as Spam or annoying customer or something. No buyback offers in Canada and no hint of anybody in FB Canadian...

Post says 3 weeks, and submission history concurs. Only went shopping and purchased 7 months ago https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/11alvo1/found_an_2018_leaf_sl_with_77k_miles_for_only_15k/ https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/11ea17b/welp_here_it_is_2018_sl_finally_came_home_with_me/...

How often do you drive without ECO?

I leave it off. Prefer feathering the accelerator, I feel like there's way too much travel on Eco

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

Canada Nissan leaf owners Facebook group has a report of a replaced pack yesterday, but for a 2018 with failing cells Only waited since March 2023 so it does seem like they are prioritizing native 40 kWh units over fixing degraded 2016-17 units Still waiting from February 2023 for my 2016

    The battery replacement/buyback thread.

2023 and 2024 leaf still has a 40 kWh trim. 30 kWh battery is discontinued and perhaps they decided to no longer replace with 40 if they can buy back cars for less than the cost of a new battery (plus shipping and labor for warranty work to dealer)

A little different: BC, Canada warranty claim on a US vehicle (SoCal 2016 SV with 30 kWh battery). Purchased the car at 8 bars with 63% SoH and immediately turned around to get the claim going Took about 2 full days and then a week of leaving the car at dealer to get an OK from Nissan Canada to...

Why would anyone buy a nissan leaf right now???

Anybody willing to pay 10K for a Leaf should be shopping on Carmax instead. They frequently have 2017S with the 30 kWh battery for 9-10K, and they don't last long at that price, maybe a week or two at most. https://www.carmax.com/car/19210289 Above 12-13K, Chevy Bolts are going for that...
