So much for a Leaf being the "backup car"

No kidding. I'm just waiting to see how long it takes for the Leaf's mileage to overtake the Outback's...

So much for a Leaf being the "backup car"

Thanks Alozzy! The black wasn't my first choice (I love the red and the blue), but given the price, miles, and condition, I certainly won't complain. I did graciously "let" Jodie and the kids bring the Leaf home from the dealership. Especially since I knew that she was about to go on a business...

    Level II EVSEs at Costco

Now that we've got our Leaf, my wife and I are looking into Leve II EVSEs. Upshot: We've got a sub-panel in our garage with capacity, and it's on the same wall where we'd want to put the charging station. I'm looking at having it hard-wired to the exterior wall, up near the front, so it's easy...

So much for a Leaf being the "backup car"

Well, things worked out pretty good. About a week ago now, after 2 days of haggling, my wife and I brought home a 2016 Leaf with 15K on it. It'd come off lease here in the Eugene area, was in solid shape, and we could get a lower-mileage, newer car than we thought we'd be able to afford. Not...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

All right, deal is done! This morning we got a 2016 Leaf from Lithia Nissan here in Eugene. Worked out pretty well, and we're all pretty excited. Thanks for all your help!

    Newbie in OR Wanting Advice

Hi Barbara! I'm also in Eugene. My wife and I bought our first Leaf, today in fact. We got a 2016 with 15K on it. We got ours from Lithia Nissan over near Autzen. They have a 2014, 2015, and 2017 still on the lot as of when we left this morning. As you've probably seen on here too, Platt Auto...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Thanks for that. Yeah, the price I'm seeing locally has me chuckling, frankly. I'm seeing 2017s in the Portland area for cheaper. I'm seeing what verifications I can get on the battery.

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

This is good to hear. I'm planning to stick with dealerships for now, since that's the only way to get the Charge Ahead rebate, and I'd rather not leave $2500 on the table :) Looks like there's a Used 2015 Nissan LEAF SV for sale here at Lithia Nissan in Eugene...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Yes, I looked through this pretty extensively. Thank you for posting it!

    2015 SV or 2016 S... or a 2014?

Thanks all! Looking through the photos on the 2015 and 2016 listings, each is showing 12 bars, so hopefully that's a good sign. I know there's the possibility of resets and such. Both the 2015 and 2016 were showing heated front seats, which is occasionally nice around here. Heated rear seats...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Quick update! We may be on to a Leaf - a 2016. Will be reaching out to some of yall who are in Oregon and posted here. Thanks again for all the help, will keep you posted. I put up a new thread here around what we're kicking around: 2015 SV or 2016 S... or a 2014? - My Nissan Leaf Forum...

    2015 SV or 2016 S... or a 2014?

Thanks again for all the help in my prior/first post about getting a Leaf as a secondary (or likely soon-to-be primary) for me, my wife, and our 2 kids. (http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=28263) I've been looking around for options, and 2 Leafs on Shift.com really caught my eye...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Thanks! We're pretty much just keeping an open mind. Most of the Leaf listings I've been seeing having been from dealers, a few private parties, but definitely in the minority. Some of the rebates here, AFAICT, also specify a dealer purchase, so depending on pricing that math can definitely sway...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Those are good points, and we're looking at that side too. It's entirely possible that we do wind up using the Leaf for additional short-haul trips. So if anything, we're could indeed be driving the Leaf more. My inclination would still be to go EV if we can find the right car for the right...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Thanks LurchOR! Did you purchase your Leaf through a dealer or private party sale? Much appreciate the the OCVR mention, I hadn't seen that rebate program yet. Checking into that. I'll PM you as we dig in more, it'd be great to chat and see and your Leaf.

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Holy moly, y'all have been amazing. Thank you for all these perspectives. My wife and I have been digesting everything you said, and it's been really helpful. Based off what you're saying, I'm figuring a 2015 will be our sweet spot. Waiting to see how our taxes settle out before we start "Leaf...

2011–2015 Leaf as a secondary vehicle?

Greetings from Oregon! I've been checking out the forum for a few weeks now, but just registered and this is my first post. I'm Anthony; my wife Jodie and I live in Eugene with our 7yo son and 4yo daughter. Fun fact: Our "backup vehicle" used to be a green Ural sidecar motorcycle, but I sold it...
