LEAF rear-ended: body shop recommendation in Silicon Valley?

Our 2011 Nissan LEAF was rear-ended. The damage seems limited to the back bumper as far as I can tell. I want the repair done correctly. That means getting the damage fixed. It also means not harming the battery during the repair. Any body shop recommendations, advice, suggestions, etc. are...

Blink Offer to Extend RPA Through 2013

In addition to asking for ownership of the EVSE to transfer to me at the original RPA end date (April 2013 for me), I'm thinking about asking for a change to section 8 of the RPA. The last sentence of that section currently reads: " Additionally, if ECOtality terminates this agreement for cause...

Power Fault error - big red screen

Well, then my car would be in the garage, ironically next to my unreliable Blink EVSE :) Seriously though, I have not yet been unable to drive the car because of the Blink EVSE. So far, power cycling the unit has fixed the problem. It's just annoying to have to do that.

Power Fault error - big red screen

I have had the "power fault" error for a few weeks now. It happens about 2/3 of the time I plug the car in. The only resolution that works for me is to "power cycle" the unit by unplugging it for 5 minutes and then rebooting. It's a hassle. I had about 6 months of no problems with the Blink and...

New Chevy Volt value proposition: use gas station restrooms

I'm surprised at the positive reactions. Maybe I'm so dismayed by the positioning statement Chevy is using ("More car than electric") that I didn't appreciate the cuteness in this spot. And this is from someone who actually likes the Volt. I've never driven one, but saw one up close and thought...

New Chevy Volt value proposition: use gas station restrooms

See, if you buy a Volt you can put gas in it at a gas station. That way you can use their restroom guilt-free. Isn't that better than an all electric car? /sarcasm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDyZu6zOC6Y

    Seat covers that don't suck?

I saw sheepskin seat covers at Costco this weekend. They were $50-60 each (I don't remember the exact price). They would cover the front seats only. Not sure about the fit, they were "universal fit". You can also buy a "kick mat"...

Actual charging time always less than predicted by LEAF?

Example: Our LEAF tells us that it will take 3:30 to get to 80% charge. I plug-in our Blink EVSE and the LEAF charge timer is set to start at 12AM. The next morning I go to unplug the LEAF, and the Blink tells me the last charge was completed in 2:21. What explains the discrepancy between the...

Video of Leafs being loaded to a ship

Looks like there's an additional rear brake light mounted in the middle of the multi-fin-thingee (I don't know what to call it) underneath the bumper. Looks like the UK only gets Leafs in blue and red :-)

Blink error "HTTP status code 502 received"

Yes. The person I talked to said it was a firmware problem that would be fixed in the update that is coming out Tuesday.

Blink error "HTTP status code 502 received"

On the display screen on my Blink, I see a yellow/orange box with the following " SYSTEM ERROR EVSE could not process your request. EVSE HTTP status code 502 received Touch here to reload this screen. " When I touched there (or anywhere) nothing seemed to happen. The Blink user's manual...

OEM All Weather Rubber Mats pictures

Regarding the OEM All Weather Rubber Mats, do they have that awful plastic/phthalate smell? I'm refering to the mats seen here: http://www.nissanaccessories247.com/999E4-8X000 Some of the cheap mats I looked at in WalMart smelled badly.

Did Everybody Get Their Free Nissan Cast Metal LEAF Model?

I'd like to give one of these to give one of these to my son, who is nuts about our new (full-size) LEAF. If you don't want yours, let me know. If you live in the Silicon Valley area I can pick it up from you.

how well will the leaf hold its value?

Actually, the buyers would benefit more than the leasees from higher resale value in 3 yrs. At the end of 3 years the leasees will have the option to buy or return or the car. If they return the car, the leasees would have paid for depreciation that never happened. Alternatively, they could...

Official EV Project / Ecotality / free charger thread

Our Blink was installed yesterday. We don't have our car yet, but it's nice to look at the Blink and think how our transportation will (hopefully) soon be different! The installer put in an SD card that he said had the latest firmware. He said the SD cards just came in "yesterday" (which would...

how well will the leaf hold its value?

I'm planning on buying. I looked seriously into leasing, but the lease terms are not good lease terms (high money factor, low residual), and the "option value" for turning the car comes to about $3900 (not including TVM/discounting) after 36 months. One angle I think worth considering is that...

    Leaves in the Wild

Saw three LEAFs the week of July 4 when I was in Amsterdam. I had a nice chat with a guy who was charging one of the LEAFs at a seemingly public charging point. The company he works for builds(?) and deploys the charging stations. He told me there were 100 LEAFs in Amsterdam, all being used in...
