New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

We haven't worked out the details but I am pretty sure they would give me back by down payment and trade-in money at least.

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

I'm in Maryland. Every dealership around here is getting one or two bolts in around March they say but are either pre-sold or not available for sale because they are keeping them for test drives. They say it will be closer to May when they start to get a regular supply of them, and I am not...

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

The person assigned to my case at Nissan corporate just randomly called me and said that they are approving a buyback. I have no idea what changed, I was still preparing my BBB arbitration form and I hadn't contacted them for weeks. Either way, finally getting somewhere. Now I just have to...

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

i am actually going to contact some media outlets to see if I can get the word out about this. Not so much for my own situation but for the other people Nissan might be doing this to that don't have the time/knowledge to investigate it themselves. I don't mind posting my VIN at all, but I am...

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

Yes the last technician I took it to was a really good guy and he said he documented the same voltage differentials with their tools and sent all the info to Nissan engineering. They still responded by saying that it was "within tolerances". That was at low battery but not turtle though, I...

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

Unfortunately I have no idea what that magical threshold is that would cause them to actually do something about it. I wish I did. Maybe I'm only off by a few mV, or maybe hundreds. No way to know.

The LeafSpy shot that I posted here is at 0% when the car actually stopped moving.

Unfortunately I live in the middle of the city so there is nowhere close to me house that I can floor it. If I really had to I could drive out to some relatives and use the trickle charger to do that, but at this point I don't actually want them to fix the car. I have no confidence in Nissan...

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

I have no idea how to get another "known good 30 kWh pack", but you are right it would be helpful. I am only going by what LeafSpy says, that the overall pack has 23% SOC when it is completely dead.

Yes I am 100% sure this is Nissan corporate not the dealer's fault. I actually found a dealership nearby with a very knowledgable technician that basically confirmed everything I have posted here and said that unfortunately he can't do anything to help me because unless there is a fault code...

I don't have the service manual so I am not sure.

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

LeafSpy screenshot when my Leaf is at turtle. As you can see, all the "good" cells are within 15 mV or so of each other while the bad one is 680 mV lower. The other two cells that are also weak are noticeably lower than the good cells, but still substantially higher than the one extremely weak...

I just followed your advice and the voltage differential at turtle was 650 mV. All the good cells were within 15 mV of each other and the bad one was 650 mV lower. Do you know of anywhere that says what good and bad differential values are? 650 seems like a lot to me but I really have no idea.

I will give that a try, thanks for the advice.

The issue is that they have some magic number that the voltage differential has to be (they won't tell me what it is) and my case is not that number. It is probably very close, but not quite a "failure" differential, so they will not fix it. Beyond that, they won't even acknowledge that...

Yes, unfortunately I was rather naive. This is the first new car that I have ever bought and for some reason I thought that companies wouldn't sell you a broken car and then refuse to fix it. My bad.

Hi everyone, I have had a very long post here for a few months (http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?p=481164) that has finally come to a conclusion and I wanted to start a new topic to get a warning out to people that haven't kept up with it or don't want to read through 10 pages of posts...

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

Okay, so the final word from Nissan is that the battery cells with lower voltage are definitely causing the reduced range but that it is not outside of allowable parameters. They will not fix it. This is absolutely hilarious to me because they are basically saying that they can sell you a car...

New Leaf 2016 SL, Bad Battery?

At one point I was given a Leaf as a loaner car while mine was in the shop so I know that a normal car gets better mileage. They gave me a 24 kWh Leaf and it went about 5 miles further on a charge than my 30 kWh version. Nissan responds to that by saying that no mileage is guaranteed and range...
