Easy way to charge during day and timer at night?

Of course, that's a great solution! I have the standard Nissan-recommended 240V charger that doesn't have a timer (currently), so this 12am-6pm timer setting should work great! Thanks, Toshi

Easy way to charge during day and timer at night?

Ideally, I'd like a timer for on at 8 AM-6PM (work time), and then on at 12 AM-6AM (low electric rates at home). As it is, (I think) I have to turn off the timer during the day to charge at work and then turn it on when I get home. Any thoughts? Thanks, Toshi

    Regeneration strategy

All right, I tried it again and 80% charge goes to 10 of 12 bars and does regenerate fairly nicely. I must have done an untimed charge and it went to 100%. Sorry for the confusion! Toshi

    Regeneration strategy

I don't know about the revision, but I just got the latest update last week. My dealer had 2 Leafs on the same day (me and another) and the other person's leaf broke down due to some charging issue. Anyhow, they updated my system right away. My system said Time to 80% charge 0:00, so I know I...

    Regeneration strategy

Mike, all my regeneration is done in eco mode. "Eco mode" ramps up very slowly and increases braking power as the battery gets increasingly depleted. I want maximum regeneration on my demand. The strange thing is that I can have 2 bars depleted and it won't go over 3 dots of regeneration...

    Regeneration strategy

Yes, that is my own experience. When it is charged to 80%, the battery level is displayed as full bars and regeneration does not occur. Toshi

    Regeneration strategy

I've had my Leaf for a couple of weeks now and I'm figuring out how to best optimize regeneration, since I live on a hill and go downhill to start. It is well known that regeneration is much more effective ECO mode. 1. OK, if the charge is 100%, it doesn't regenerate because the battery is...

If you live on a hill..

sproqitman, --Since ECO mode regenerated more, does it mean that the difference in energy was lost from braking, or the car was going slower and you were regenerating more energy? What's your take on the situation? Also given that consumption roughly equals usage, you could charge to almost...

    Timeline is slipping

My timeline keeps slipping. I just went from March to April 2011. I ordered on 9/1. April is 7 months. Anyone else slipping too? Toshi

    Hill consumption?

Great, so assuming 24kWh/100 miles, this is 5.4 miles for 1000 feet of climbing, +2 miles of normal distance, which would be roughly 7.4 miles total energy consumption. --Now what is the regeneration efficiency? If I assume 5.4 miles of potential energy, then 5.4% of 100 miles total distance...

Can you choose your Nissan dealer?

Thanks, I was too worried about getting in my order in to get in the front of the line, but I received my order capability on 9/1, which lumped me in with all of the September orders. Nevertheless, I am scheduled to get a March delivery, so I am hopeful. Best, Toshi

    Hill consumption?

I live on top of a hill and am curious how much juice we will need to consume to get home. At the end of my trip I will need to climb about 1000 ft in 2 miles. Has anyone climbed roughly 1000 ft in elevation and how much energy did that require? My wife's commute is about 25 miles each way, and...

Can you choose your Nissan dealer?

A dealer was assigned to me to provide a quote, but I'm wondering if it's actually possible to choose your dealer for a quote. I noticed that I'm going through Nissan of San Leandro (I live in Oakland), while someone living a couple miles from San Leandro in Hayward ended up going to Petaluma...
