    Off-Grid Solar EVSE

Ok, so I should have stated I know a lot about EVSE's. I've actually design/built my own J1772 charger and it worked. So yeah, I can definitely do all this. I'll have about 10-kw of solar. The house needs about 7, the charger needs about 3... even that out, 10. I get 4 solar hours a day...

    Off-Grid Solar EVSE

Highly technical question, but perhaps someone may know... The J1772 specification is very clear that it requires 120-240 Volts Alternating Current, period. But does the Leaf's J1772 charging system work on 120 vdc anyway? ie... it immediately rectifies the AC to DC before using anything that...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

I thought I'd add my numbers to the thread. I purchased my Leaf late 2012 as a pre-owned 2011 SL trim with ChADemo (rental car from California) had 5,000mi and 12 bars. Until mid-2014 it had 12 bars. I now have 48,000mi on the odometer of daily commuting (50mi round trip) and 10 bars. Zero...

    TinyEVSE - $50 240V/30A L2 Charger

I haven't done SSR/TRIAC yet. The one I've been using is an enclosed mechanical relay. Obviously needs analysis and testing. It's still a work in progress. Just gauging interest.

    LEAF in Kansas City

Red 2011 SL I forgot to say, I lost 1 bar of charge last fall at about 32,000 mi (it has 5,000 when I bought it used if you do the math). Not shedding any tears... just smiling past every gas station.

    TinyEVSE - $50 240V/30A L2 Charger

I made my own charger using a very basic MicroProcessor. It's about 10 components and a very small 1sq" PCB board that uses the same PB-TR92 relay as many others. It all fits in a small aluminum inclosure with a 12v power supply. I've been using it to charge my Volt at home for a year now...

    LEAF in Kansas City

New Member, long time EV'r. Just saying hi. I started commuting 35mi/day electric in 2010 in a Red 1986 BMW-3 series converted to electric in California. I swapped the batteries for 14.4kwh of LiFEPO4 / 156v. When used Leafs became cheap in 2013, I purchased one for steal and I've been...
