anyone ever do Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo?

Just curious if anyone here has experience with the same journey. I'm thinking of doing the reverse (San Luis Obispo to LA) and wondered how or if I could pull it off. I've been looking at plugshare to see what's available. The trip is about 200 miles, and the car is a 2015 with still rather...

No Charge to Charge Just Charged Me

Chargepoint's practice of pre-charging you in blocks of $25 is a poor choice on their part, in terms of customer relations. It leaves a bitter taste for the customer, and it's essentially unjustified. It's heavy handed compared to, for example, Uber's or Zipcar's way of charging people for...

how much charge does it cost to park for 3 weeks?

Just a followup. This turned out exactly as people predicted. I topped up the 12V with a maintainer the night before parking outdoors in warm/hot/sunny weather for three weeks. There was no noticeable loss in charge on the drive battery after three weeks. I am now plenty confident to do this...

    brake lights & B-mode etc

Thanks all -- I'm surprised. I thought surely that B-mode regularly produces more than the minimum amount of friction braking needed to trigger an ordinary car's lights. Maybe that's an illusion. If not, it hardly seems like sorting out the lights would be an engineering challenge.

    brake lights & B-mode etc

I haven't had a chance to test this, so thought I'd ask. Do the brake lights go on during regenerative braking? I mean, even when my foot is not on the brake pedal, the braking can feel significant enough to surprise someone following close behind. It's especially true when in B-mode.

    Uber and LEAF

Doesn't sound like you're the only uber leaf. I'm guessing you're the only one near Des Moines though, if not all of Iowa or the midwest.

Thanks all -- this was a great help.

how much charge does it cost to park for 3 weeks?

I'm going out of town for a about three weeks. Was planning to leave my leaf parked near the airport for the whole time. It will have about 70% charge when I park it. I believe that the drive battery would lose almost no charge over that time, except that if I understand correctly, it'll act...

Buy now or wait for 2016 LEAF?

Just my two cents, but with a commute on the long side like that, it seems to me that you're the perfect candidate for waiting until the longer-range battery comes out. Two more cents: I have a 2015, and I wouldn't be comfortable with a commute as long as yours (I worry more than most about...

ChargePoint -- is charging for time typical?

I did, but good point. At first I thought that's what was going on, but it wasn't. In fact, this put me slightly over the first $25, so they took another $25. The charging in blocks of $25 is also something that struck me as odd. I can't say that's so horrible, but it was another unpleasant...

ChargePoint -- is charging for time typical?

Right, it's there to see. They aren't deceptive about it. I just wasn't thinking clearly, or lacked experience.

ChargePoint -- is charging for time typical?

I know the price structure varies. Just wondering how common the one I encountered is.

ChargePoint -- is charging for time typical?

My work installed a bunch of ChargePoint charging stations. They are rarely in use, so I gave them a try. I discovered that they charge $6 per hour for being at the station for more than 4 hours. After my first full work-day, I returned to see a charge of about $25. I thought I'd be in the...

Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

I'm sure that there's some form of corrosion warranty. If you're worried, why not take it into a dealer? Ask if it's covered, and to see if any of the covered parts are showing rust.

Leasing a second leaf, can I get tax credit in Georgia?

    Another thread on here seems to have had it work for two. Looks like you have until the first of July. http://www.georgiaair.org/airpermit/html/mobilearea/engines/Alternativefuels.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2011 Leaf brake question - long downhill drive from home

I would do some test runs. Try to measure how much capacity you lose on the drive up the mountain. Do a few runs so that you can have confidence in how stable the result is. Then, do a few runs down the mountain starting with different amounts of charge. Try to find out what's the minimum...

    New Leaf owner with questions

On the S, you can only set the stop time. Of course, since you can read how long it thinks it'll take to charge, you can do arithmetic to determine the right stop time for your preferred start time. That begs the question though: would it have cost them so much to throw in a line of code that...

    New Leaf owner with questions

I also have a new S, and for me, the lack of functionality for bluetooth and the charge timer were surprises. It almost seems like they went out of their way to make them function poorly. If my dealer had pointed those things out to me, he may have been able to get me to go for the SV. The...

Foldable Bicycle in Cargo Area of Leaf?

I think the "selfish or inconsiderate" concerns are people envisioning you making this your primary power source, routinely occupying it for 5 nights a week or something like that. I'm sure nobody objects to sporadic conscientious use.
