    2011 - Dead Battery Charger

It's been working fine. Charged properly every night since, haven't smelled burning plastic again. So I haven't taken it into the shop. I'm probably going to trade it in on a 2018, so I'm hoping I can just ignore it until then.

Thanks for that, I'll try to have a look this weekend.

    2011 - Dead Battery Charger

Last Friday morning I went out to the car and experienced that burnt plastic smell. Yet the car had completed its charge and was ready to go. Since that morning I haven't had a problem charging it. A couple of times the week before there was an error message that charging had been...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

I was definitely feeling this way too. I had babied the battery trusting it would last, but I just ended up losing the 4th bar shortly out of warranty. Their offer to pay 80% of the battery replacement put me square back in the Nissan camp.

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

I am going to get the LEAF battery replaced, but I'll still be limited to 84 miles range. Hopefully by the end of this year or early next year there is a vehicle that suits me better. The LEAF 2 is what I'm really curious about. If it doesn't live up to the hype then I'll look at the Kia Soul...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

Thank you fotajoye and mtndrew1. I think the wisest choice for me is to drive the LEAF another year and see what's available then. It also keeps this LEAF on the road. Without the battery being replaced it's a car of very limited value. Now it can live a much longer and more productive life.

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

Thank you for the reply, holding on to it for more than 8 months does put me ahead of a lease. Interesting - I didn't know those EPA figures were based on an extrapolation of the 80-100% charge. I just always assumed they took it at the full 100% charge. In your experience can you expect over...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

I was just approved to have an out of warranty battery replacement in my 2011 LEAF with a $1500 "copay". A couple days ago I would've been ecstatic. The plan was to get the battery replaced, drive around for a year or so and then get a LEAF2 or another longer range car on the market. It seems...

Blink evse: Where in the menu can you change "Max Current" setting?

Thank you. I think that's the way I'll go.

Blink evse: Where in the menu can you change "Max Current" setting?

Thank you, I'll look into this now. Does replacing the cable require soldering? Can it be attached any other way? I'm not great with a soldering iron.

Blink evse: Where in the menu can you change "Max Current" setting?

I have an original Blink WE 30-CIRE EVSE installed back in 2011 by ECOtality. It's still the same unit, same handle, there were a couple glitches in the first few weeks, but quick restarts solved those and no repairs have been necessary. I'm looking to replace my 2011 LEAF with it's 3.6 kWh...

Nissan "Out-of-Warranty" support for battery pack degradation

That's encouraging. Maybe I'll fork over the money for a test. Thank you

Nissan "Out-of-Warranty" support for battery pack degradation

Apparently I've stayed away from the forum too long. I didn't realize people were getting out of warranty assistance. I got one of the first 500 LEAFs back in 2011. I babied the battery as much as I could, and my reward was dropping the 4th bar 3 months after the warranty expired. I just called...

Nissan Won't Honor Capacity Warranty, Says I Am 4 Days Late. 8 Bars

What was your situation? I made the mistake of being extra careful, babying the battery as much as possible to get maximum life out of it. Now I'll be at four bars around 6 weeks after my warranty expires. Absurd that right now I am driving a car with what 70.2% capacity and I will get...

Nissan LEAF for 70-mile commute (140 miles roundtrip)

I think this comment nails it. Twice a week you're be up for an adventure where you could easily be left on the side of the road and I'm sure eventually will. Sometimes I hop in the car crank up the music and fall back into old driving habits of keeping up with the Jones' in their ICE vehicles...

Anyone charged at UCLA Medical Plaza?

It seems like it's usually available, but I haven't used it. Thus far I've been able to drive conservatively and make it home with a bit to spare. We'll see what happens when the next bar goes.

Nissan LEAF for 70-mile commute (140 miles roundtrip)

DO NOT DO IT! The LEAF isn't the car for this commute. If you can wait a year and half Nissan might have a new battery that could make the commute, but 70 miles there and back twice a week is a bad idea. You will need a very high tolerance for adventure as someone put it above. If that's...

How Much Lifestyle Change Does Leaf Force?

I've had to slow down, considerably. If you're driving 70 on the freeway you're not going to get too far in a LEAF. I've had it for 3 years and I love it, but it comes up short a little too often. I really wish they'd hurry up and get the next generation of EVs out there. I certainly won't...
