Optimal tire PSI for max range?

More air pressure usually helps get a bit more range. I think 42PSI or so is often best. What tires are on your car? The stock Ecopia tires have 51PSI sidewall max.

Forget rising sea levels, we're drowning in plastic

Plastic made from fossil fuels is the problem: http://www.wbur.org/onpoint/2018/06/11/our-planet-is-tangled-in-plastic And burning fossil fuels is what is causing climate change.

    2018 Leaf

I have yet to see a 2018 Leaf in the wild. Which is unexpected.

    Airflow design flaw?

I have found that cracking the front windows is both effective air flow, and quieter than cracking the rear windows. Open the dash vents, and then crack the front windows just enough to get the noise to a minimum - and usually you then get much better air flow from the vents. I think it is...

    Tesla Semi Truck

Extraction takes a LOT of electricity. In California, I heard that oil extraction is the second largest portion of all consumption, statewide. For some extraction operations, they use super heated steam to just get the oil out of the ground. All that water has to come from somewhere, and that...

Nissan finally gets it with new 240V portable EVSE

What is the kW rating on this unit at 240V?

Anyone ever run out of juice?

5% left is not all that low. I got to 1 mile left a couple of times, and then later the range estimate disappeared at about 7-9 miles left. I never even got to a turtle mode, despite having about a dozen drives over 100 miles (on a '15 LEAF S 24kWh).

    Cold weather longer charge times

The battery has to be warmed during charging, when the air temperature is cooler. This uses more energy, the cooler it is outside.

Aeromod nissan leaf improved aerodynamics increased range

I have a record of every fillup for almost 10 years. And with all the aeromods I did (including side video mirrors for about 5 years), I averaged more the 50% above EPA Combined rating over that time. So, I have much more than an anecdotal account. I don't think I had the VG's installed...

Have B Mode as Deflaut Drive Mode

The brake pedal has regen integrated, so B mode has no advantage. Light braking is all regen, and since you can modulate it, it is arguably better than B.

Have B Mode as Deflaut Drive Mode

I have been ecodriving for at least 10 years, and I can assure you that coasting is better - in particular - in stop and go conditions. You accelerate LESS (that you would otherwise) and then you coast. It becomes a challenge to never stop, or use the brakes. And if you look at what we have...

Aeromod nissan leaf improved aerodynamics increased range

They were much farther apart than 4", and they were less than 18" from the back. I did lots of mods to my xA, and most of them improved things. These did not.

Aeromod nissan leaf improved aerodynamics increased range

I had them similarly spaced, and I had them down the sides of the car, as well.

Aeromod nissan leaf improved aerodynamics increased range

I was recording every fill up (it was a Scion xA) and my mileage dropped slightly (it dropped by about 3MPG), and I could feel that the car was no coasting as well. I had those exact ones, and I still have several. I took them off, and things got better...

Aeromod nissan leaf improved aerodynamics increased range

I tried those years ago, and they do not help, and seemed to harm efficiency somewhat.

APTERA!!! Former deposit holders ROLL CALL!!!

I never put in a deposit, but I followed them closely from the beginning. When they failed, I designed and started building my own design, I call CarBEN. http://neilblanchard.blogspot.com/2013/04/carben-ev5-construction.html I was at the X-Prize Knockout Round, and the SO-1 was MUCH heavier...

    Tesla Semi Truck

We now know the prices: $180,000 for the 500 mile version, and $150,000 for the 300 mile version. Also, we know the cost of operation - $1.26 / mile vs $1.51 for a typical turbo diesel. So, that is $25,000 savings per 100,000 miles. And the drivetrain is warrantied for 1,000,000 miles.

My Experience: 2018 Leaf vs 2017 Bolt

The new Leaf has changes that push it from borderline, to uncomfortable, for us. The new center console has a flare toward my knee that pushes my right leg out of a position that is better for me, and it has a corner that rests uncomfortably on my leg. And the rear seat is slightly higher...

My Experience: 2018 Leaf vs 2017 Bolt

I do not fit comfortably in the new Leaf, and my son (who is taller than I am) would literally not fit. We fit very comfortably in our Bolt EV.
