Tesla has fired the Supercharger team

This is widely reported, but it seems that Electrek is the source everyone is quoting, and they say it was first reported by theinformation.com. I'm sceptical of this story's accuracy. Musk certainly has been hard-core about layoffs before, but this seems ridiculous, even for the enigmatic Mr...

    100 kW Charging

No chance with any semblance of safety. I've not heard of a CHAdeMO connector that can handle more than 200 A. I would not want to see more than 200 A through an adapter, as it's not practical to water cool the pins of the connectors in the adapter. Plus you have twice the connector losses with...

Onboard Charger Failed (2012) but cannot find cause

Good question. I strongly suspect that they are identical; the numbers on the PCB silk screen match up exactly. But that's not definitive. I happen to have an iMiEV Waffle Plate™ handy; it has this small sticker on it: I would guess that 0136 following "No." would be a serial number. 5Q03...

    6.6 kw charger on 2013 S model.

My humble apologies for the confusion; I was calling F1 (with the locking gizmo) F23. Sigh. I've edited my posts, I hope I got them all. Regardless, it appears that your F23 has different wire coloring; I have no idea why. IF the pins numbers are the same, it seems that your interlockpins are...

2022 Leaf with HV isolation fault code P0AA6 in The Bahamas with no dealer support

My wild guesses: the cells swell slightly with increased SoC?? That seems unlikely. Another guess: some insulation is failing at a certain voltage threshold. Only when the cells get to a certain voltage does the insulation break down. Yet another guess: a cell is leaking electrolyte. Weird...

    6.6 kw charger on 2013 S model.

Right. But IF you replaced the harness that plugs into that large round connector, then you would have those nine wires. Dala did it that way just so he didn't have to trace those 9 wires (and a few others, BTW) back to the PDM. You can do it either way: replace that harness like Dala did, or...

    6.6 kw charger on 2013 S model.

I note that Dala doesn't connect to anything in that box; he cuts the nine wires short! He connects to wires that WERE FORMERLY connected to that box, that come from the PDM. Using the new harness seems crazy to me, it only uses 4 wires from that harness, and then you have to extend them (a...

He would mean the high voltage (traction) battery. In the old days, this would be a "pack" of lead acid battery modules.

    CHAdeMO

I think the journalist relied heavily on a press release from the manufacturer. Examples include 120kW as "powerful" and CHAdeMO as a "leading" standard. In Japan, that's probably true, but EN+ appears to be a Chinese company, or at least originating in China.

    6.6 kw charger on 2013 S model.

I meant to post that this is the part that confused me, I see no pins 72 or 73 anywhere on the associated diagrams. I assume you're not short circuiting (mentally) with connectors CN711 and CN712. The vast number of connectors involved also does my head in.

Is the CCS to CHADEMO adapter legitimate?

I'm not aware of the data on this. There seem to be conflicting anecdotal reports. But the effect of heat on batteries is definitely bad; I'm sure I could dig up scientific papers if needed. My point was that you can't conclude from the way the current tapers at higher SoC that the effect of...

    6.6 kw charger on 2013 S model.

I think that's the large round connector, F23 (see previous page). Note that you are missing the top row (pins 1-9) on this harness. Dala ended up with a new harness that does have these wires. If you don't have a new harness, you'll have to trace back to the quick charge board and add the four...

    6.6 kw charger on 2013 S model.

I think his quick and dirty idea was to intercept the wires from the Power Delivery Module (PDM) to the CHAdeMO connector at the large round connector at the firewall (?) at the back of the hood. I would have found where they exit the PDM, since it's a lot shorter from there to the CHAdeMO...

Usually in cars purple wires are called Violet and are designated with the letter V. That's the case for Mitsubishi, who seem to do things similarly.

Is the CCS to CHADEMO adapter legitimate?

Charging speed is measured in kW, not kWh. kWh measure accumulated energy over time (hence the h for hours in the unit). The reduced charge current at higher battery SoC prevents immediate catastrophic damage due to over-charging one cell, but it still heats the battery, and heat is the enemy...

    Copper wire thieves

Heh. I actually considered keeping the cooling water (if present) pressurised. Thieves getting their clothes soaked or stuff in their eyes might slow them down. I considered even adding something like pepper spray to the fluid, if that didn't adversely affect performance or longevity. But there...

    Copper wire thieves

In Australia, tethered or not depends a lot on the location. At a rough estimate, 50% of AC "chargers" overall are tethered. So I have to buy a cable anyway, even if I don't need it half the time. Plus, most charging further than the local shopping centre will be DC fast charging anyway. I was...

    6.6 kw charger on 2013 S model.

It doesn't look good. There was obviously quite high current, damaging at least one PCB track. That sort of current has a habit of damaging many components. Unfortunately, this 6.6 kW On Board Charger looks rather different to the 3.6 kW model that the people over at myiMiEV.com have...

    Can I use a level2 charger (e.g 2019 leaf) to charge on a 120 outlet?

No socket has two grounds; a 14-50R has one ground and a neutral. While a neutral and a ground are usually at roughly the same potential, they are very different and are in no way interchangeable.

    Charging problems

Since it's common to two "chargers" at home, it could be an earthing issue. EVSEs are picky about having a good earth, and might not be good at telling you what the problem is. Edit: By "earthing", I mean the same thing as Americans call "grounding".
