Maryland Excise Tax Credit -- what'd you get?

You'll receive a $3,000 excise tax refund check, regardless of tax liability. You should get the check a month or two after completing the application.

What's the thing you hate most about your Leaf?

Probably the exterior aesthetics. It looks as if someone stuck a straw in the tail pipe and blew. Oh, wait … More importantly, what bothers me most about the Leaf is that it scored so poorly in the IIHS test that simulates a small-overlap-front collision. And that the parking break is a large...

Maryland Excise Tax Credit -- what'd you get?

On Friday I received a letter from Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration about the calculation error and that a refund is on the way. If you purchased or leased a new Leaf on or after July 1, 2014, and your excise-tax refund was less than $3,000, PM me for a helpful contact at MVA.

Maryland Excise Tax Credit -- what'd you get?

After radio silence from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Association (MVA), I asked @mdvolt for advice. The person at that Twitter handle put me in touch with a Maryland Energy Administration source, who reached out to contacts at MVA. Today, the very helpful source said that "MVA will issue refunds...

Maryland Excise Tax Credit -- what'd you get?

Hi, any new Leaf owners gotten a excise tax credit from MVA? I received a check last week. The amount, a little over $2,000, was for the excise tax (6%) paid on the sales price of the car. But the way the application is written, it seems that the amount of the rebate should have been $3,000...

    Electric parking brake switch

Fascinating details on how IIHS conducts its frontal crash tests and why the Leaf faired so poorly in one of them: One would hope this new rating, and CR's response, will spark a resolution from Nissan headquarters. http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/ratings-info/frontal-crash-tests"...

    Electric parking brake switch

For the most part, I love the look and feel of the Leaf, so the mechanical foot brake is kinda anathema to the whole high-tech shtick that Nissan markets. The brown shoes with a tuxedo quote comes to mind. :D I’m also alarmed by the idea of what that anachronistic lever in the footwell (or...

    Electric parking brake switch

Is there a reason the electric parking brake switch shown below was omitted in the 2014 model? (Has it been in any U.S.-spec 2011-2015 models?) The image is from page 6 of Nissan's First Responder Guide at http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/refgh0v/og/FRG/2011-Nissan-LEAF-FRG.pdf"...

    Our solar production

Hi, and thanks much for the welcome. Natural gas water heater and furnace. Everything else is electric. TOU is unavailable where I live (I think). FirstEnergy charges about $0.12/kWh at all hours. PVWatts says our array will generate between 12-13 MW per year. I commute about 40 miles/day...

    Our solar production

Because of the relatively cool July temperatures, my ~10 kW array set a monthly record last month, yielding 1.47 MW. That's the highest generation since it commissioned in June 2012. In March of this year, the array set a daily record of nearly 75 kWh, yielding enough energy for about three...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

2014 SL+Premium from the dealer in Chevy Chase, Md. With 15 Leafs in stock (including eight new 2013s), they are ready to deal. Ask for Boyd or Greg. Pardon the bird poop on the array. :D
